About The Company
Experis is a global technology and talent solutions business that connects skilled professionals with organizations seeking expertise across technology, infrastructure, and digital transformation. This opportunity is with a team focused on improving database operations through reliable automation, API development, and modern container platforms. You will contribute to technology services in a highly regulated environment, where operational resilience, security, and disciplined software delivery are important.
About The Role
Experis is seeking an Infrastructure Python Developer to build and maintain scalable automation solutions that streamline database operations and rollouts. In this hands-on role, you will develop Python-based services and APIs, integrate automation workflows, and support applications deployed in containerized environments. You will work across scripting, APIs, databases, and Kubernetes to help deliver dependable infrastructure capabilities.
The position is based in Sheffield on a hybrid schedule, with approximately 60% of working time in the office and 40% remote. The assignment is scheduled to begin on 27 November 2026. The stated rate is 402; please confirm the applicable currency and rate period with the recruiter. This role is suited to a developer who combines practical engineering skills with strong analytical thinking and an interest in improving infrastructure operations.
Qualifications
Required qualifications include hands-on experience developing APIs with Python and FastAPI, along with strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills. You should be comfortable designing and supporting automation, investigating issues across multiple layers, and working collaboratively with technical colleagues.
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes is valuable, particularly deploying services and administering resources such as Pods, Ingress, Services, Secrets, and custom resource definitions (CRDs). Familiarity with PostgreSQL or PostgreSQL database administration, or MongoDB and MongoDB Atlas, is also relevant. Exposure to build, packaging, testing, and deployment processes within CI/CD pipelines will be beneficial.
Additional useful experience includes observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry; secrets management with HashiCorp Vault; and enterprise platforms such as Control-M, Truesight, Guardium, Tenable Nessus, or Delinea. Knowledge of security and software development in highly regulated environments is an advantage. Experience with Agile practices and tools such as Jira is also desirable.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and maintain automation solutions for database operations, deployments, and rollouts. Build and integrate APIs that support database management activities and automated workflows, applying sound engineering practices and maintaining clear, supportable code.
Containerize and deploy applications and services using Docker and Kubernetes. Administer relevant Kubernetes resources, including Pods, Ingress, Services, Secrets, and CRDs, while helping ensure deployments are reliable and appropriately configured.
Investigate and resolve automation issues across Python scripts, APIs, databases, and containerized environments. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand operational needs, improve workflows, and support secure, dependable services. Where applicable, contribute to observability, CI/CD processes, and the management of secrets in line with team standards.
Benefits
This opportunity offers a hybrid working arrangement in Sheffield, combining office collaboration with remote work. The role provides practical involvement in infrastructure automation, database operations, API development, and container platforms. You will also have the opportunity to work alongside technology professionals and contribute to services operating within a security-conscious, regulated context. Assignment terms, including the rate and duration, should be confirmed with the recruiter.
Equal Opportunity
Experis is committed to fair and inclusive recruitment. Applicants should be considered based on their skills, experience, and suitability for the role, without discrimination on any legally protected basis.
