QA (Automation) – Contract Role (2 Months)

This is a remote position.

We are seeking an experienced Senior QA Automation Engineer to join our Quality Engineering team. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain scalable end-to-end (E2E) test automation solutions for complex web applications. The ideal candidate possesses strong expertise in UI test automation with hands-on proficiency in Selenium WebDriver.

Key Responsibilities

• Framework Architecture: Design, build, and optimize maintainable, scalable Selenium-based test automation frameworks using Page Object Model (POM) or modular design patterns.

• Test Execution & Maintenance: Create, execute, and debug reliable automated test suites across cross-browser environments for functional, regression, and UI workflows.

• Selenium Automation: Develop robust automated test scripts using Selenium WebDriver and handle dynamic web elements, complex DOM interactions, frames, windows, alerts, and synchronization challenges.

• Test Runner Integration: Integrate Selenium automation with test runners such as TestNG, JUnit, or PyTest.

• CI/CD Pipeline Integration: Integrate automated test execution into CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.

• Defect Management & Reporting: Analyze test execution results, capture detailed defect logs, and partner closely with developers and product teams for timely issue resolution.

• Framework Optimization: Reduce test flakiness, improve execution speed through parallel execution, and maintain high test-code quality through reviews and reusable automation components.

1. Selenium WebDriver Framework Expertise
   

• Strong hands-on expertise with Selenium WebDriver.

• Page Object Model (POM) and Page Factory architecture design.

• WebDriver initialization, browser configuration, Selenium Grid setup, and remote browser execution.

• Dynamic wait strategies including WebDriverWait and ExpectedConditions.

• Robust locator strategies and complex DOM interaction.

• Handling dynamic elements, frames, multiple windows, alerts, dropdowns, mouse and keyboard actions.

• Cross-browser testing and browser compatibility validation.

• Integration with TestNG, JUnit, or PyTest.

• Parallel test execution and reliable test-suite design.

1. Programming Languages & Scripting
   

• Strong proficiency in at least one programming language used with Selenium, preferably Java, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript.

• Java: Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles, collections, exception handling, and Maven/Gradle build tools.

• Python: PyTest framework, fixtures, parameterized testing, and automation libraries.

• JavaScript/TypeScript: modern syntax, async/await, Promises, and Node.js package management.

1. CI/CD, DevOps & Infrastructure
   

• Version Control: Git workflows, branching strategies, pull requests, code reviews, and merge conflict resolution.

• CI/CD Platforms: GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or GitLab CI test-runner configurations.

• Experience running Selenium tests in headless and automated CI environments.

1. API & Database Testing
   

• API Testing Tools: Postman, REST Assured, or equivalent API testing utilities.

• Database Validation: SQL queries for backend data verification and automated test-data validation.

1. QA Methodology & Professional Skills
   

• Agile & BDD: Agile/Scrum ceremonies, STLC processes, and Behavior-Driven Development (Cucumber/Gherkin).

• Collaboration: Strong written/verbal communication for effective cross-functional collaboration with developers and product managers.

• Problem Solving: Root-cause analysis, effective debugging, and proactive resolution of test flakiness.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

• 8+ years of dedicated hands-on experience building and maintaining web test automation solutions.

• Strong experience developing Selenium automation frameworks and reusable automation components.

• Experience with Selenium Grid or cloud-based cross-browser testing platforms.

• Experience with visual regression testing tools is a plus.

• Exposure to load and performance testing frameworks is a plus.
