QA Engineer
Summary
Location: Remote
Day Rate: Negotiable
Duration: Until End of 2026 – with a view to extend
Availability: ASAP
About the Client
An exciting opportunity to join a growing aviation technology business developing and delivering an advanced Operations Control Centre (OCC) disruption management solution.
The solution supports airline Operations Control Centres in managing disruption in real time, providing proactive alerts and proposing integrated recovery solutions across aircraft, crew and passengers.
With significant customer and pipeline growth, the team is expanding ahead of several major airline implementations and go-lives.
We are looking for two mid-level QA Engineers / Solution Testers to play a key role in validating the quality, accuracy and operational effectiveness of the solution.
This is not a traditional software testing role. You will be responsible for reviewing how the solution behaves in realistic disruption scenarios, identifying issues and turning your findings into clear, actionable feedback for Product, Optimisation, Engineering and Delivery teams.
About the Role
You will test the solution across a range of real and replayed disruption scenarios, assessing whether the outputs are accurate, credible and practical.
You will work closely with technical and delivery teams to identify defects, validate fixes and build a comprehensive library of test scenarios to support future releases and airline implementations.
Key Duties:
• Review aircraft, crew and passenger recovery solutions generated by the platform across live and simulated disruption scenarios.
• Assess whether proposed solutions are logical, achievable and consistent with the underlying data and business rules.
• Validate proactive alerts, identifying missed alerts, false positives, incorrect timing or inappropriate severity.
• During customer implementations, verify that airline schedules, fleet information, crew data and operational rules have been correctly configured and are reflected in the solution outputs.
• Review KPIs, performance measures and business-case outputs to ensure they are consistent with the underlying data and proposed solutions.
• Identify, document and prioritise defects and issues in a clear and reproducible format.
• Work closely with Engineering, Optimisation and Delivery teams to investigate issues and validate fixes.
• Re-test solutions following changes and contribute to regression testing ahead of releases and customer go-lives.
• Build and maintain a structured library of test cases and disruption scenarios for different customer environments.
• Work with customer stakeholders during implementations to understand their requirements, validate outputs and capture feedback.
• Analyse operational data and use evidence to support testing conclusions and recommendations.
What we are looking for
We are looking for a QA professional with strong analytical skills and an interest in testing complex, data-driven technology solutions.
Essential
• Experience working in a QA, software testing, solution testing or similar analytical role.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex outputs and identify inconsistencies.
• Experience creating, executing and maintaining structured test cases and scenarios.
• Ability to investigate issues systematically and provide clear, detailed and reproducible defect reports.
• Comfortable working with large datasets using Excel or similar tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work collaboratively across Product, Engineering, Optimisation and Delivery teams.
• Fluent English.
Desirable
• Experience within an airline, aviation, transport, logistics or other complex operational environment.
• Knowledge of airline Operations Control Centres and disruption management processes.
• Experience with aircraft, crew or passenger disruption and recovery processes.
• Previous experience working with optimisation, decision-support or operational planning software.
• Experience using SQL and/or Python for data analysis or testing.
• Understanding of airline crew rules, flight-time limitations, crew pairings or aircraft maintenance constraints.
• Experience working directly with customers during software implementations or go-lives.
• Spanish or another language relevant to the solution's airline customers.
