QA Engineer (Remote, India)

SmallERP is an AI-native ERP platform that automates the operations of growing businesses. It works alongside existing accounting systems or as a complete ERP, using AI agents to automate finance and operations workflows across procurement, payables, receivables and order management, with every action subject to owner approval. SmallERP is an early-stage company built in the UAE and available directly and through a network of accounting and technology partners.

The role

Our customers rely on SmallERP for the accuracy of their financial records and the reliability of the actions taken on their behalf. As a QA Engineer, you will be responsible for both: verifying that the accounting is correct, and that the automation behaves as intended. You will work directly with the founder and play a central role in determining release readiness.

• Key responsibilitiesValidate end-to-end accounting workflows and their impact on the ledger, including journal entries, trial balance, profit and loss, and balance sheet
• Test procurement, payables, receivables and order management, including purchase order matching, invoice validation and VAT treatment
• Evaluate the behaviour of AI-driven workflows: correct interpretation of incoming documents and messages, appropriate actions prepared for approval, and safe handling of edge cases
• Verify data integrity across integrations with connected accounting systems
• Test multi-company, partner and role-based access scenarios
• Design and maintain structured test cases and evaluation scenarios
• Report defects with precise, reproducible detail and verify resolutions
• Plan and execute regression testing ahead of each release

Requirements

• 2-4 years of QA experience on web-based SaaS products, preferably in ERP, accounting or fintech
• Strong grounding in double-entry accounting: chart of accounts, receivables and payables, accruals, reconciliation and VAT
• Ability to determine the correct accounting treatment for a given business transaction
• Experience testing integrations and data synchronisation between systems
• Proficiency with Jira, Confluence and browser developer tools
• Practical use of AI tools in testing, with sound judgement on their limitations
• Excellent written English and a disciplined, self-directed approach to remote work
• Full-time availability with overlap with UAE business hours

Preferred qualifications

• Commerce or accounting background (B.Com, M.Com, CA Inter)
• Hands-on experience with Zoho Books, Odoo, Tally or QuickBooks
• Experience evaluating AI or LLM-based product features
• Familiarity with UAE VAT or e-invoicing
