Ohme is on a mission to accelerate the global transition to clean, affordable energy. We do that by serving as an integrated hardware and software smart-grid platform, focused on the residential EV charging market.

The worlds of energy, transport and artificial intelligence are colliding and Ohme is at the heart of this new era. By using technology and data integrations to connect cars, chargers, people, energy providers and more, Ohme has a powerful platform that puts the consumer at the core.

Ohme has been selling its chargers to consumers since mid 2019 and has had exponential growth since. We are now operating in multiple countries and have partnerships with the likes of VW, Mercedes, Octopus Energy, and other innovative brands.

We are scaling up the business and are building out the team for rapid growth. If you’re interested joining a fast-growing cleantech venture on a data and AI-first journey to speed up the global transition to clean, affordable energy, read on!

We are looking for a driven QA Lead - you will line-manage QA Engineers embedded across multiple teams, whilst working horizontally with Heads of Engineering and software team leads to align quality standards, tooling, and outcomes across the entire Engineering department. You will champion an automation-first policy across both QA and Engineering: tests are designed for automation by default, engineers share ownership of quality, and manual testing is reserved for usability and edge-case work that automation cannot yet cover.

This is a role for someone with a clear point of view on where QA needs to go in the era of agentic AI. You will own our AI and agentic test strategy: evaluating, adopting, and governing AI-assisted testing, autonomous test agents, and intelligent quality tooling and lead the shift to a modern automation strategy that embraces AI thoughtfully rather than reactively.

Success in this role depends as much on people as on tooling. You will need to influence across teams and seniority levels: building trust, explaining the why behind change, and bringing engineers and QA practitioners with you rather than imposing process from above. You will be accountable for this through defining, collecting, and reporting on quality metrics that demonstrate real outcomes, not just activity.

Skills Required

Leadership

  • At least 5 years' experience as a QA Engineer, with at least 2 years in a QA Lead, Principal QA, or equivalent quality leadership role
  • Experience line-managing direct reports across multiple teams
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills — a natural influencer who can persuade, coach, and align engineers, squad leads, and Heads of Engineering behind a shared quality vision
  • Demonstrated experience leading process and/or tooling change across multiple teams
  • Experience designing quality metrics programmes and reporting release/quality KPIs (e.g. change failure rate, deployment frequency, escape rate, test coverage) to senior engineering stakeholders

AI & agentic testing

  • A clear, articulated point of view on how AI and agentic tooling change the QA operating model — not just exposure to a tool, but experience evaluating, piloting, and governing its adoption
  • Practical, hands-on experience with at least one of: AI-assisted test generation, autonomous test agents, LLM-driven exploratory testing, or AI-assisted triage — with a concrete example of what you introduced, how you assessed it, and what happened

Technical

  • Hands-on experience with test automation in API/backend
  • Experience with test automation frameworks (e.g. Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, Cucumber)
  • Comfortable with Git and CI tooling (e.g. Jenkins, TeamCity, CircleCI, GitHub Actions)
  • Knowledge of bug tracking and test case management tools (e.g. Jira, TestRail, Zephyr, qTest, PractiTest, or similar)
  • Understanding of BDD and shift-left quality — and experience embedding QA earlier in the requirements/design process, not just at test execution
  • ISTQB/ISEB foundation certificate or higher, or equivalent demonstrated expertise

Desirable

  • Commercial experience using Kotlin
  • Experience with mobile test automation frameworks (e.g. Maestro, Appium, XCUITest, Espresso)
  • Experience with contract testing, performance testing, or firmware/hardware-in-the-loop test strategy
  • Experience working for a product centric organisation
  • Familiarity with clean-tech, IoT, EV charging, or energy platforms

Benefits:

You’ll get to work in a fast-paced and rapidly growing scale-up with global ambitions that is cutting edge, passionate about sustainability and seeks to make the world a better place.

  • Competitive salary and bonus
  • Hybrid office - 3 days in office
  • Beautiful central London office
  • Private Health Insurance
  • Aegon Pension Scheme
  • Life Assurance Scheme with death in service benefit of 4x salary
  • Income Protection Scheme for long term illness
  • Ride to Work Scheme
  • Payroll Giving Scheme
  • Season Ticket Loan to spread cost of travel over 12 months
