Quality Assurance Team Lead

Location: Bucharest (hybrid: 2 days in-office / week)

As a QA Lead, you will lead and grow GETIK’s quality engineering function across our Chișinău and Bucharest teams. You will define how quality is planned, measured and enforced, and you will coach the Quality Assurance team who work embedded in client-aligned delivery pods. Your role is to make sure defects are found early, regression coverage grows from release to release, and every release decision is based on clear, pre-agreed criteria.

You will work closely with the Delivery Manager, our delivery pods and the other leads in our expert team , while keeping a primary focus on QA strategy, standards and people.

What you’ll do

Build and lead the QA team

• Recruit, onboard and grow a team of QAs in Chișinău and Bucharest;
• Allocate QAs to pods, each aligned to a client, and keep staffing balanced across both locations;
• Coach and mentor QAs, run regular 1:1s and performance reviews, and define career paths;
• Build a single QA community of practice across both sites, with shared standards, templates and ways of working.

Test strategy and standards

• Define the test strategy, test approach and quality standards applied by QAs in every pod;
• Define the severity rules for defects and the criteria for testable acceptance criteria;
• Define and maintain the quality gate for releases, and make sure it is known to every team in advance;
• Review and improve QA processes continuously, based on metrics and post-release learnings.

Test automation

• Stay hands-on: build the automation framework and write automated tests yourself, working alongside the QEs on real client flows so the team learns by doing;
• Define the automation approach and select the tools, together with the QAs and developers;
• Own the test automation roadmap and grow automated regression coverage from release to release;
• Set standards for the maintainability, reliability and reporting of automated tests;
• Promote the use of company-approved AI tools for test case generation, test data and test maintenance, and set guidelines for their use.

Quality in the pods

• Define how QAs work in the pods: check that acceptance criteria are testable, and set the expectation that items are tested as soon as they are ready, without waiting for the end of the sprint;
• Work with developers to agree what is covered by developer tests and what is covered by QA tests, with developers remaining responsible for the tests of their own code;
• Step in on complex defects, test environment issues and test data needs when QAs escalate or ask for help.

What we’re looking for

We are seeking an experienced QA professional who can confidently build and lead a quality assurance team across two locations. The ideal candidate will have:

• Proven experience in software testing and quality assurance, including experience leading or mentoring QA engineers;
• Strong experience with test automation and with building regression suites that are maintained over time;
• Experience defining test strategies, quality gates and QA processes;
• Experience working in IT or digital transformation projects; knowledge of digital banking or financial services is a strong plus;
• Good knowledge of test management, defect tracking and CI/CD tooling;
• Any QA certification (ISTQB, etc.) is an advantage;
• Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving and leadership skills;
• Ability to work with distributed teams across locations and with cross-functional stakeholders.
