Job Title: Quality Engineer (Cosmetics / Personal Care)

Location: Aldermaston, Berkshire (Remote/Hybrid)

About The Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Quality Engineer to join our team, supporting our EMEA operations. This is a dynamic role that is primarily focused on Quality Management (approx. 70%) with a significant Regulatory Affairs component (approx. 30%). You will play a critical role in ensuring product quality, resolving complaints, and maintaining compliance with EU and UK cosmetic regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Management (70% Focus):

  • Quality Complaints & CAPAs: Manage and resolve EMEA-originated quality complaints, partnering with manufacturers to perform root-cause analysis, implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs), and track non-conforming products.
  • Quality Systems & Audits: Build and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS). Prepare for and support audits, including the clearance of quality claims and preparation of reports for Sales and the Head of PD. While on-site audits are conducted by the US QA team (<10% travel required), you will assist in audit document preparation (e.g., RSPO audit documentation).
  • Product Development Review: Set critical quality control points, define required testing items, and ensure quality considerations are integrated from both manufacturing and customer perspectives.
  • Supplier & Manufacturer Collaboration: Work closely with manufacturers to arrange compliance inspections for existing products and follow up on necessary formula upgrades.

  • Regulatory Affairs & Compliance (30% Focus):

    • Product Registration: Responsible for product notifications on the EU CPNP and UK SCNP portals.
    • Artwork & Labelling: Create and approve regional artworks (labeling) based on regulatory requirements. Act as a Key Approver, aligning with R&D to approve artworks through the DocuSign platform.
    • Regulatory Monitoring: Closely monitor new updates to cosmetic laws and regulations in EMEA countries, promptly notifying internal teams (PD, R&D, Customer Service). Issue EU/UK regulatory newsletters and deliver guidance on new regulations to R&D.
    • Compliance Projects: Work with the Compliance Team to ensure compliance with EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) and Packaging and Waste Regulation (PPWR).
    • Documentation: Gather and maintain critical documentation, including MSDS, Technical Data Sheets, and support the Dubai CS team with registration documents (FSC, GMP, INCI, LOA, etc.).

    Qualifications & Requirements

    • Experience: 4-5 years of experience in quality management, compliance, or a related field. Experience in the cosmetics industry is highly preferred.
    • Knowledge: Familiarity with cosmetic industry regulations (EU/UK), safety standards, and GMP is essential. Knowledge of ISO9001 and other quality management systems is required.
    • Skills: Proficient in quality management tools and experienced in handling quality complaints. Strong verbal and written communication and negotiation skills are a must. Fluent in English.
    • Education: Bachelor's degree or above in Chemicals, Materials Science, Quality Management, or a related field.
    • Advantageous: Six Sigma Green Belt certification. Experience with PPWR, EUDR, RSPO, and CPNP/SCNP portals is a significant plus.
    • Travel: Willingness to travel to factories for on-site audits (less than 10%).
    • Personal Attributes: Honest, humble, proactive, and detail-minded. Positive, cheerful, and eager to learn. A strong team player with a well-organized working behavior.
