Position Description
The Lead Quality Engineer serves as a key member of the Data Center Cooling quality organization, providing leadership for multi-site quality initiatives across Modine's manufacturing network. This role is responsible for driving quality improvements, standardizing best practices, leading cross-functional problem solving efforts, and ensuring successful execution of strategic quality projects that improve customer satisfaction, operational performance, and product reliability.
The Lead Quality Engineer will lead quality improvement initiatives that span multiple manufacturing locations, supporting the development and deployment of common quality processes, systems, metrics, and corrective action methodologies. This individual will serve as a central coordinator between plant quality teams, operations, engineering, supplier quality, field service, and leadership to ensure alignment and execution of key quality objectives.
The role requires a highly collaborative professional with strong analytical skills, project leadership experience, and the ability to drive sustainable improvements through influence and technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Quality Initiative Leadership
- Lead cross-functional quality improvement projects across multiple manufacturing sites.
- Coordinate the planning, execution, and sustainment of enterprise quality initiatives.
- Drive consistency in quality processes, reporting, metrics, and corrective action systems.
- Establish best practices and facilitate deployment of successful solutions across manufacturing locations.
- Track project progress, remove barriers, and communicate status to leadership.
Digital Quality Transformation
- Lead implementation of digital quality tools and automated inspection systems.
- Drive adoption of data-driven quality monitoring and reporting technologies.
- Support development of dashboards, heat maps, and visual management tools that improve quality decision-making.
Additional Responsibilities
Field Quality and Customer Support
- Support investigation and resolution of significant field quality issues.
- Partner with field service teams, commissioning personnel, manufacturing sites, suppliers, and engineering teams to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Analyze field performance trends and customer feedback to identify opportunities for product and process improvements.
- Participate in customer visits and field investigations as needed.
Collaboration and Organizational Influence
- Partner with plant quality teams to align improvement efforts and share lessons learned.
- Work closely with manufacturing, engineering, operations, supplier quality, and service organizations to achieve quality objectives.
- Facilitate regular cross-site quality reviews and continuous improvement activities.
- Provide coaching and guidance on quality tools, methodologies, and best practices.
Data Analytics and Performance Monitoring
- Develop and maintain segment-level quality metrics and dashboards.
- Analyze quality, warranty, field performance, and manufacturing data to identify trends and risks.
- Monitor project performance and measure effectiveness of implemented improvements.
- Present findings and recommendations to business and operational leadership.
Required Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field.
- 5 or more years of experience in quality engineering, manufacturing engineering, operations excellence, or related technical disciplines.
- Experience leading cross-functional improvement projects within a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated success implementing corrective actions and driving sustainable quality improvements.
- Strong knowledge of quality tools and methodologies including 8D, FMEA, SPC, Root Cause Analysis, and statistical problem solving.
- Ability to influence and drive results across multiple locations and functions.
Ideal Qualifications
- Experience in HVAC, refrigeration, thermal management, industrial equipment, or electromechanical product manufacturing.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
- Experience with digital quality systems, manufacturing analytics, or quality reporting platforms.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.

The salary range for this position is estimated in good faith to be $100,000 - $135,000. The specific offer will depend on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and other job-related considerations but will be within the stated range.
