Software Engineer – RF/DSP | Shape the Future of Electronic Warfare
Build Real Systems That Matter
Are you ready to move beyond simulations and build real-world RF sensing systems that protect our nation? We're looking for a Software Engineer who thrives at the intersection of embedded systems, RF environments, and mission-critical software. This isn't a desk job, it's a hands-on technical role where you'll architect solutions, write code that runs on actual hardware, and see your work deployed in the field.
Why This Role is Different
- Real Impact: Your code powers Electronic Warfare systems that advance national security
- Technical Ownership: Become a subject matter expert on core embedded systems, not just a cog in the machine
- Cross-Functional Innovation: Collaborate directly with DSP engineers, hardware designers, and M&S experts
- Lab-to-Field: Participate in testing, data collection, and validation, not just development
- Cutting-Edge Tech: Work with SDRs, modern systems languages (Rust/Go/Zig), and next-gen RF architectures
What You'll Actually Do
- Design and develop embedded software for EW and RF sensing systems
- Architect HW/FW/SW partitioning for calibration algorithms and processing structures
- Build and integrate software for software-defined radios (SDRs) and RF front-ends
- Translate Electronic Warfare concepts (EA, ES, EP) into deployable capabilities
- Implement system models in C and MATLAB for optimal performance
- Collaborate with FPGA and hardware teams to integrate real-time algorithms
- Prototype operational capabilities, not just PowerPoints
- Shape the product roadmap through direct interaction with Engineering Leadership
- Support proposals and white papers for new opportunities
What We're Looking For
Must-Haves:
- Bachelor's degree in CS, EE, Physics, or related field
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Security Clearance . U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a Security Clearances.
- 6+ years designing signal processing for EW systems
- Strong proficiency in C/C++, MATLAB, Python
- Experience with modern systems languages: Rust, Go, or Zig
- Hands-on experience with SDRs and RF data pipelines
- Working knowledge of Electronic Warfare concepts and RF/analog components
- Familiarity with DSP concepts and Linux development environments
- Excellent communication skills and ability to thrive in cross-functional teams
- Based in Dayton, Ohio (up to 20% travel)
Bonus Points:
- Master's degree with 3+ years of experience
- Experience with GNU Radio or similar frameworks
- Background in SIGINT, ELINT, or radar systems
- Familiarity with Open Architectures (OMS, FACE standards)
- Exposure to FPGA/firmware interfaces (VHDL/Verilog)
- Interest in REDHAWK, LabView, or Simulink
