Your Crew

At Beyond Gravity, we are driven by a shared passion for pushing the boundaries of technology and making the impossible possible. As a global leader in space technology, we develop innovative solutions that contribute to the exploration of space and shape the future of the aerospace industry.

You will join an innovative and collaborative engineering environment, working closely with experts across different disciplines, as well as external partners, customers and research institutions. We value curiosity, initiative and the courage to challenge existing ways of thinking.

We are looking for someone who enjoys connecting with people, sharing knowledge and actively contributing to the development of new ideas and technologies.

Your Mission

As an R&D / M&P Engineer, you will work at the intersection of Research & Development and Materials & Processes, combining both areas to develop innovative technical solutions, materials and manufacturing processes.

The role brings together R&D activities focused on innovation, technology development and new concepts with Materials & Processes expertise focused on the selection, development, qualification and application of materials and manufacturing processes. You will therefore contribute both to exploring and developing new technologies and to ensuring that these technologies can be successfully applied to products and manufacturing.

You will combine technical expertise with a proactive and entrepreneurial mindset, identifying opportunities, developing concepts and driving initiatives from idea to implementation.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop innovative technical solutions, new product ideas, concepts and methods to address theoretical and practical challenges.

  • Plan, coordinate and contribute to R&D projects in collaboration with discipline leads and project and portfolio management.

  • Define experimental approaches, including tests, trials and prototypes.

  • Define, coordinate and document the development and qualification of materials and manufacturing processes.

  • Interface with customers, suppliers, research institutions and other external partners on technical and project-related topics.

  • Actively participate in conferences, workshops and industry events, presenting technical work and representing Beyond Gravity.

  • Build and maintain strong internal and external networks to foster collaboration, exchange knowledge and identify new opportunities.

  • Proactively identify, propose and drive market-oriented initiatives to improve existing products, technologies and production processes.

  • Contribute to the development of R&D roadmaps, including business cases and technology assessments.

  • Collaborate closely with adjacent Engineering teams to identify best practices, synergies and opportunities for innovation.

  • Support the evaluation and introduction of new products, processes and technologies within the Engineering department.

  • Share knowledge and support the development of young professionals, students and interns.

  • Work on projects with varying levels of complexity and interdisciplinarity, collaborating with engineering specialists and other stakeholders to turn innovative ideas into tangible results.

Your Story

You are a technically curious and proactive professional who enjoys exploring new ideas, challenging the status quo and turning opportunities into action.

You are comfortable working with different stakeholders and actively building relationships. You enjoy exchanging knowledge, attending technical events and representing your work and ideas both internally and externally.

For this role, we are looking for someone with:

  • Master's degree or equivalent qualification in Physics, Materials Science or a related technical field, with a broad understanding of Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, subsystem design and development, or cryogenic engineering.

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in an industrial or academic environment.

  • A solid technical understanding of technologies applicable to spacecraft and launch vehicles.

  • Experience or exposure to research, development, innovation or the application of materials and manufacturing processes.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, combined with the ability to approach challenges from different perspectives.

  • A proactive mindset, with the confidence to bring forward ideas, take ownership and drive initiatives through to implementation.

  • Excellent communication and networking skills, with the ability and motivation to engage with internal and external stakeholders.

  • An interest in participating in conferences, workshops and technical events and presenting your work.

Nice to have:

  • Previous experience in the aerospace or space industry.

  • Familiarity with space industry standards and requirements.

  • Basic knowledge of advanced CAD and engineering analysis tools.

Additional requirements:

  • English and German proficiency.

Why Beyond Gravity?

  • You will become part of a committed team with the ambition to drive the future of space through innovation.

  • You will work in a growing high-tech company offering diverse career opportunities, both at your location and internationally.

  • In Austria, we offer attractive benefits, including additional days off based on the working time arrangement (bridge days as well as the period between Christmas and January 6), a company canteen, health promotion programmes and much more.

  • We offer a hybrid working model with home office options and flexible working hours that can be adapted to your individual needs.

  • In accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement, we are required to state a minimum gross monthly salary for this position. The minimum salary is EUR 4,473 gross per month. The actual compensation will be based on your qualifications and professional experience and will be above the collective agreement minimum.
