About the company
Our client is a law firm.
The role
Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Own a docket of commercial property disputes heard in state and federal courts, guiding each matter from early filings through trial or settlement. The position blends independent case management with teamwork inside a litigation group and offers room to cultivate your own client relationships.
What you'll do
- Prepare, present and answer motions of all kinds.
- Conduct and defend depositions, and prepare witnesses ahead of hearings, trials and arbitrations.
- Oversee the full discovery process, including electronic document review, productions and related disputes.
- Take part in trials, evidentiary hearings and arbitrations.
- Advise property owners, landlords and developers on disputes involving leases, contracts, title, ownership and construction.
- Negotiate settlements and shape practical, commercially minded outcomes for clients.
- Run matters independently while collaborating closely with fellow litigators.
- Develop client relationships and bring in new business.
What we're looking for
- At least 5 years of litigation experience focused on real estate.
- A J.D. from an accredited law school and a current license in good standing to practice in New York.
- A background acting for commercial property interests in both state and federal courts.
- Solid command of local civil procedure, including commercial tenancy disputes and lease enforcement.
- Direct courtroom and hearing experience across every stage of a case.
- Prior time at a firm with a strong property or litigation emphasis rather than a general practice.
- Polished legal writing and willingness to share two complete, unredacted writing samples.
- Comfort managing electronic discovery and large, complex document productions.
- A track record of staying with employers for the long term.
- Residence in New York City and ability to work a hybrid schedule with three days in the office.
Bonus points
- Earlier work in the property industry, such as property management or brokerage, before or during law school.
- A portable client book may allow consideration for a more senior level.
Compensation and benefits
- Base salary: USD 220,000 to 250,000 per year
Location and work model
- New York, NY, United States
- Hybrid, 3 days in office per week
- Full-time
