Shape, Lead and Win the Most Important Opportunities in Our Business
We are seeking an experienced Regional Bid Director to lead the delivery of our largest and most strategically important pursuits across the UK and wider region.
This is a senior work winning leadership role focused on directing complex, high value bids from opportunity qualification through to contract award. Acting as the project director during the pursuit phase, you will bring together multidisciplinary teams, establish winning strategies, manage delivery against demanding programmes and lead the collective effort required to secure major wins.
You will work across a diverse portfolio of markets including Rail and Transit, Highways and Streets, Aviation, Ports and Marine, Water, Energy, Environment, Buildings and Places, Advisory and Defence.
Alongside leading major pursuits, you will oversee a portfolio of strategic opportunities, deploy bid resources across competing priorities and develop high performing work winning teams.
Working closely with senior business leaders, client account teams and technical specialists, you will play a critical role in shaping opportunities, influencing investment decisions and delivering sustainable growth across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Major Pursuits
Lead and oversee the delivery of major pursuits across the region, including some of the largest and most complex opportunities in the business.
Act as the pursuit lead, executive sponsor or senior bid director on priority opportunities, taking accountability for the overall delivery of the pursuit.
Operate as the project director during the bid phase, establishing governance, managing delivery programmes, coordinating resources and ensuring teams remain focused on achieving a winning outcome.
Lead pursuit planning, answer planning, reviews, rehearsals and executive engagement throughout the lifecycle of each opportunity.
Drive client focused pursuit strategies, compelling value propositions and differentiated win themes that position the business for success.
Direct Pursuit Teams
Build and lead integrated pursuit teams comprising technical experts, account leaders, operational teams, commercial specialists, legal advisers and bid professionals.
Create clarity of purpose, establish delivery plans and coordinate contributions from stakeholders across multiple business lines, disciplines and geographies.
Provide leadership and direction under pressure, maintaining momentum and focus throughout complex and fast paced pursuits.
Challenge teams to raise the quality of strategy, positioning and client engagement throughout the pursuit process.
Manage a Portfolio of Strategic Opportunities
Oversee a portfolio of major pursuits, ensuring resources and investment are aligned to the highest priority opportunities.
Balance competing demands, allocate specialist bid resources and support pursuit investment decisions across the pipeline.
Contribute to qualification, prioritisation and go/no go decisions, ensuring effort is focused on opportunities that align with business strategy and offer the strongest potential for success.
Provide leadership and oversight across portfolio sales teams, ensuring alignment between pipeline priorities, pursuit activity and growth objectives.
Develop High Performing Teams
Lead, coach and develop a team of major pursuits professionals.
Promote excellence in pursuit management, proposal leadership and client focused work winning practices.
Drive the adoption of innovation, best practice and AI enabled approaches to improve quality, efficiency and win rates.
Support recruitment, succession planning and capability development to ensure a resilient and scalable work winning function.
Build a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
What We Are Looking For
A proven track record of leading and winning large, complex pursuits and major programmes.
Significant experience leading multidisciplinary teams through demanding bid and pursuit environments.
Strong programme and project leadership skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple workstreams, stakeholders and deadlines.
Experience developing pursuit strategies, managing executive engagement and leading high quality proposal development.
Excellent communication, facilitation and stakeholder management skills.
Experience managing teams, developing talent and building high performing work winning cultures.
Commercial awareness and the ability to influence investment, prioritisation and resource allocation decisions.
A strong understanding of infrastructure, transportation, buildings, water, energy, environmental, defence or professional services markets.
Success in the Role
