What is the opportunity?

Do you have prior military or military chaplain experience and a strong desire to serve our nation's Veterans and their spouses? Do you enjoy working with a team, discipling others, and teaching God's truth? As a Regional Chaplain with Operation Heal Our Patriots (OHOP), you will be responsible for ongoing ministry to Veterans and spouses who attend our Alaska-based OHOP Retreat. Region 6 will focus on Oregon, Washington, California, Nevada, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Alaska, and Hawaii. This position will be remote but needs to be based within one of these states. Prayerfully consider this opportunity and join us today!

In the role of Regional Chaplain, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Maintain a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ
  • Build purposeful relationships with each new OHOP couple within the assigned region by contacting them before and after their time in Alaska.
  • Provide discipleship for new believers and those wanting to grow deeper in their walk with Christ, with the goal of connecting them to the local church. Provide pastoral care and marriage enrichment to each couple as needed.
  • Maintain regular contact with each alumni couple throughout the year, lead marriage retreats in the assigned region and Alaska and facilitate smaller gatherings of OHOP couples throughout the assigned region.
  • Ensure consistent record-keeping following each contact with an OHOP couple.
  • Attend daily morning devotions and participate in prayer support for the ministry, its donors, and volunteers.
  • Other duties may be assigned that are not specifically identified in the job description.

What are the qualifications?

Serve with Excellence

As a qualified candidate, you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Master's Degree in Christian Religious studies from an accredited Christian institution required; Master of Divinity preferred
  • Prior military experience or military chaplain experience required; combat experience a plus
  • Experience with individual and group Christian pastoral care with an emphasis on marital counseling
  • Ordination from a recognized Christian denomination is required
  • Travel is required each summer to Alaska and throughout the year to visit couples in the assigned region
