Regional Director - Exploration

Take executive responsibility for exploration activity across a selection of operating assets within a diversified mining portfolio. This role will shape exploration priorities, strengthen geological capability and ensure investment is directed toward the opportunities most likely to create long term value.

The position can be performed remotely from the USA or Canada, with frequent travel to operations and periodic attendance at the corporate office.

Accountabilities

• Provide strategic and technical leadership across both near mine and regional exploration activities.
• Establish clear exploration priorities based on geological opportunity, business value and the maturity of each asset.
• Guide teams in developing new geological concepts and converting them into practical, testable targets.
• Ensure exploration plans are technically sound, appropriately funded and executed within agreed schedules.
• Review programme results and redirect activity when geological evidence, performance or business priorities change.
• Strengthen geological models by combining drilling results with mapping, structural, geochemical, geophysical and geotechnical information.
• Improve consistency across exploration practices, including data collection, sampling, drilling, interpretation and geological modelling.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of exploration expenditure and ensure capital is allocated toward the strongest opportunities.
• Build capable and confident technical teams through mentoring, coaching and constructive geological challenge.
• Encourage open discussion, intellectual curiosity and rigorous testing of geological assumptions.
• Maintain close alignment between exploration teams, operating leadership, technical functions and corporate decision makers.
• Present exploration opportunities, results, risks and investment requirements clearly to senior stakeholders.
• Coordinate with environmental, permitting and operational teams to ensure programmes can progress efficiently.
• Manage relationships with consultants, drilling contractors, technical specialists and other external partners.
• Promote strong standards of safety, accountability and regulatory compliance throughout all exploration activities.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in geology or a closely related discipline.
• Postgraduate study in geology, economic geology or mineral economics would be well regarded.
• Extensive exploration experience covering both operating mine environments and earlier stage opportunities.
• Significant experience leading multidisciplinary exploration teams and complex programmes.
• Evidence of delivering resource growth, new discoveries or material improvements in exploration effectiveness.
• Strong understanding of gold mineral systems, ore forming processes and contemporary exploration concepts.
• Meaningful experience with epithermal systems and related styles of mineralisation.
• Ability to combine geological, geochemical and geophysical information into coherent targeting strategies.
• Comfortable moving between regional interpretation, deposit scale analysis and practical field execution.
• Strong commercial awareness when setting budgets and assessing exploration opportunities.
• A visible and practical leadership approach, with a genuine commitment to developing technical talent.
• Confidence working with operational leaders, technical specialists and corporate executives.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex geological ideas to varied audiences.
• Willingness to travel regularly throughout North America.
