The Regional Director – Recruiting and Business Development is responsible for leading and executing experienced advisor recruiting and acquisition strategy within an assigned region. This role develops and executes a disciplined regional recruiting plan to attract, engage, evaluate, and recruit experienced financial advisors and advisory teams who align with Thrivent’s purpose, values, advice culture, and growth priorities via a consultative approach. This position serves as a senior market-facing representative of Thrivent and plays a critical role in positioning Thrivent as a compelling destination for experienced advisors seeking a purpose-based, values-driven firm with strong advisor community, proactive practice support, and a client-first approach. This can be a remote position within the US. Duties & Responsibilites: Develops and owns a regional experienced advisor recruiting plan aligned to Thrivent’s Distribution strategy, regional capacity growth goals, market opportunities, and field leader priorities. Leads targeted regional sourcing strategies to identify, attract, and engage experienced financial advisors and advisory teams aligned to Thrivent’s recruiting profile, including advisors who value purpose-based advice, advisor community, practice growth support, and Thrivent’s brand and resources. Builds and maintains a robust regional recruiting pipeline through referrals, field leader partnerships, professional networks, centers of influence, industry relationships, external partners, events, and targeted outreach. Partners with market leaders to identify priority markets, advisor prospects, succession opportunities, team recruiting targets, and capacity gaps that can be addressed through experienced advisor recruiting. Conducts senior-level discovery and selection conversations with experienced advisors and teams to understand practice goals, production, assets under management, book composition, client profile, affiliation preferences, transition needs, cultural alignment, and long-term growth potential. Presents Thrivent’s advisor value proposition in a way that is relevant to each candidate’s practice, including Thrivent’s purpose and generosity orientation, advisor community, practice solutions, wealth management capabilities, transition support, and affiliation options. Manages candidates through the recruiting lifecycle from initial outreach through offer, affiliation decision, and transition readiness, maintaining consistent communication and a high-quality candidate experience. Maintains accurate candidate, activity, and pipeline information in recruiting systems and uses reporting to monitor progress, identify risks, forecast results, and recommend improvements to regional recruiting strategy. Stays informed of industry trends, competitor recruiting activity, advisor movement, affiliation models, and market expectations within the assigned region; shares insights to improve Thrivent’s recruiting approach, messaging, and advisor value proposition. Represents Thrivent at regional recruiting events, industry forums, conferences, and networking opportunities to strengthen brand visibility and build relationships with experienced advisor candidates and referral sources. Qualifications & Skills: Required: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. 5+ years of experience in financial services, recruiting, business development, sales leadership, or related relationship-based roles. Demonstrated success developing and executing regional recruiting, business development, or market growth strategies with measurable outcomes. Demonstrated ability to source, engage, evaluate, and influence experienced financial advisor or comparable professional talent through long-cycle recruiting or business development processes. Strong understanding of financial advisor practices, including production, assets under management, book composition, client relationships, practice growth, transition considerations, and affiliation decision factors. Knowledge of financial services affiliation models, including 1099, W-2/statutory, team-based, and RIA-related structures. Clean compliance record and satisfactory background check. Willingness and ability to travel regularly within the assigned region and for candidate meetings, recruiting events, conferences, and internal meetings as needed. Preferred: Experience recruiting experienced financial advisors, advisory teams, wealth management professionals, or financial services sales talent. Experience working with advisor recruiting pipelines, CRM tools, recruiting platforms, or sales activity reporting. Familiarity with advisor transition economics, offer development inputs, due diligence, book portability, onboarding, and repapering considerations. Industry credentials or securities registrations, such as FINRA Series 7, Series 66, CFP®, ChFC®, or similar designations. Experience representing a firm at external events, industry forums, or advisor recruiting meetings. Compensation for this role is a combination of base, bonus, and incentives. The applicable total compensation range for this full-time role is $250,000 - $400,000 per year, which is dependent upon performance and factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
