Ringgold County Hospital is seeking a Registered Dietitian (RD) to join our Dietary team on a PRN basis. This position offers a flexible work arrangement, with the majority of responsibilities able to be completed remotely and a minimum of one on-site day each month.

The Registered Dietitian is responsible for providing optimal nutrition care to patients by assessing nutritional status, identifying nutrient requirements, developing individualized nutrition care plans, monitoring the effectiveness of nutrition interventions, and making recommendations as needed. The RD serves as the hospital's nutrition expert and provides education and support to inpatients, outpatients, and community programs.

This position is expected to average approximately 8 hours per week, although hours may vary based on patient needs and hospital requirements.

Essential Responsibilities

Assess patients' nutritional status and identify individual nutrient requirements.
Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nutrition care plans.
Utilize the nutrition care planning process, including assessment, nutrition diagnosis, patient-centered goals, intervention, and evaluation.
Monitor patients' response to nutrition interventions and revise recommendations as appropriate.
Work cooperatively with physicians, medical staff, nursing, and Dietary Services to ensure nutrition care is consistent with the patient's medical care plan and physician orders.
Provide nutrition education to patients, families, employees, and other program participants as appropriate.
Serve as a nutrition resource and expert for hospital staff.
Assist with the development and use of Dietary Department procedures related to food service activities, equipment, supplies, and nutrition services.
Assist with the development and review of patient and cafeteria menus in collaboration with the Certified Dietary Manager (CDM).
Provide education and support related to food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety.
Monitor nutrition services to support compliance with applicable state and federal regulations and hospital standards.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and appropriate organizational, departmental, and facility meetings or committees.
Review nutrition-related policies and procedures and assist with updates when changes in standards, regulations, or practices occur.
Participate in internal and external meetings as appropriate to promote coordination and communication.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Remote Work Expectations

This position is primarily remote; however, the RD will maintain regular communication with hospital leadership and clinical staff and will be required to work on-site at Ringgold County Hospital at least one day per month.

Additional on-site time may be requested based on patient care needs, meetings, quality initiatives, or other hospital needs.

Bachelor's degree from an ACEND-accredited dietitian program or equivalent, consistent with applicable credentialing requirements.
Registered Dietitian (RD) credential and ability to maintain applicable registration, licensure, certifications, and continuing education requirements.
Knowledge of nutritional care planning and medical nutrition therapy.
Knowledge of basic food service principles, including menu planning, food sanitation, and nutrition-related aspects of food service.
Understanding of HIPAA regulations and the privacy of patient and employee information.
Mandatory Reporter certification.
Current BLS certification.
Hospital or clinical dietitian experience preferred.
