Help Us Move
to Licence NSW at NSW Fair Trading
NSW Fair Trading is the consumer protection
regulator in NSW. We ensure a fair and safe marketplace for goods, services and
homes in NSW. We are moving our licensing schemes from a legacy system to a new
digital licensing platform, and we are looking for a detail-focused Regulatory
Operations Officer to cleanse our licensing data records before they are
migrated.
Licensing records hold the details that let
people run their businesses and let us regulate them effectively. In this role
you will find and fix the gaps and errors in those records, so that licence
holders and our staff start on the new platform with information they can
trust.
About the
Role
As a Regulatory Operations Officer, you
will work closely with the data readiness team and licensing subject matter
experts to prepare records for migration, making sure critical data gaps are
addressed before the move.
You will:
- Review licensing records in the legacy system to identify duplicates, missing information and inconsistencies.
- Resolve duplicate records by following agreed matching and merge rules.
Complete missing information using other fields in the record, related records and reliable public sources, such as NSW postcode and address data. - Record the source and reason for each change, so every correction can be traced and explained.
- Prioritise the critical data gaps that would stop a record migrating or being used correctly on the new platform.
- Refer complex or uncertain records for review, and raise patterns that suggest a wider data problem.
- Track your progress against cleansing targets, and report on volumes completed and issues found.
- Handle personal and licensing information in line with privacy requirements and legislative obligations.
- Support trial and final data migrations, including reconciling record counts and key values between systems.
- Support platform testing and validation of migrated test data to confirm it is complete and accurate, and log, triage and follow up defects.
- Support testing of platform functions, such as new applications, renewals, and amendments to existing licences work correctly using the migrated records.
About You
You are a careful worker who takes pride in
getting the details right. You can work through high volumes of records without
losing accuracy, and you know when a record needs a second opinion.
To be
successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Accuracy and attention to detail when working through high volumes of records to agreed standards and timeframes.
- The ability to spot patterns, work out missing information from the evidence available, and recognise when to escalate.
- Confidence using spreadsheets, documents and business systems, including filtering, sorting, lookups and data validation.
- Clear, well-structured written communication, including documenting decisions and explaining issues.
- An understanding that accurate records matter to customers, and a customer-focused approach to your work.
- The ability to manage your own workload, meet targets and learn new systems and rules quickly.
- Sound judgement and integrity when handling personal information.
Essential
Requirements
- Experience in data entry, data quality, records management or administrative processing, with a strong focus on accuracy.
- Experience following procedures and applying rules consistently
Desirable
- Experience working with licensing, regulatory or customer records.
- Experience in data cleansing or system migration projects.
- Experience working in government environments.
- Experience in performing user acceptance testing.
- An understanding of how data quality affects customers and frontline staff, and a commitment to getting it right for them.
- A willingness to keep learning new tools and methods.
