About MXP
MXP (MarineXchange) builds the software that runs cruise operations. Around 100 people develop and support a modular platform used by leading cruise lines — from property management and point of sale to itinerary planning, supply chain and port operations. Our customers run 24/7 operations at sea, which makes reliable delivery not a nice-to-have but the product itself.
We are building a professional project management function from the ground up, and this is one of its founding
roles. You will help set the bar for how implementation projects are run in this industry.
Job description
As Release Manager, you are responsible for planning, coordinating and successfully delivering our software releases. You make sure releases reach our customers on time, with high quality and minimal risk.
You are the central link between development, quality assurance, management and customers. You keep track of all planned and ongoing releases, communicate clearly with everyone involved and keep improving the release process.
Your responsibilities
• Plan, coordinate and steer scheduled and unscheduled software releases
• Align release planning with the CEO and the development and test teams
• Plan future releases, taking customer requirements, internal priorities and technical dependencies into account
• Monitor ongoing releases and ensure all required steps and documentation (e.g. Business Requirement Documents) are complete
• Carry out risk and impact analyses to minimise release risks
• Prepare, compile and communicate release notes, and deliver releases to customers
• Handle all customer communication around releases and take part in customer meetings
• Support upgrades of test environments for internal and customer-specific systems, and analyse and resolve any issues
• Answer questions about release versions, deployment history and software versions
• Work closely with Customer Support so that release information and status changes are reflected correctly in the service portal
• Identify and implement improvements to the release management process
Your profile
• Completed technical education (e.g. computer science, software development or a comparable field)
• Experience in release management within software development
• Sound knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
• Knowledge of change, release and incident management
• Experience with ticketing and tracking tools (e.g. Jira or similar) and with Business Requirement Documents (BRDs)
• Experience with test environments, error analysis and troubleshooting
• Understanding of agile methods (Scrum/Kanban) and classic project management methods
• Knowledge of risk management, process optimisation, and compliance with standards and regulatory requirements
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise several tasks in parallel
• Analytical thinking and a structured, solution-oriented, hands-on way of working
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with a professional and confident manner towards customers and internal stakeholders
• Very good German and English skills
• Understanding of processes, workflows and management structures in the cruise industry is an advantage
Benefits & Perks
• Rapid professional growth at the leading software supplier in the cruise industry
• Secure, long-term employment in a fast-growing industry
• Flexible hours and remote work – you organise your time around your projects and client commitments
• Austria: The minimum salary stipulated by the applicable IT collective agreement is EUR 3,954 gross per month for full-time employment (14 payments per year). Depending on your professional qualifications and experience, an overpayment is possible.
• International/Other countries: For positions outside Austria, compensation is based on local market conditions and legal requirements.
