Remote | Compliance Attorney — $90–$150/hour

We are sharing a specialised consulting opportunity for experienced U.S.-based Compliance Attorneys with strong expertise in compliance law, regulatory research, legal-document analysis, legal writing, and U.S. regulatory standards to contribute to an advanced legal AI training and evaluation project.

Selected professionals will review and annotate compliance materials, develop detailed legal analyses and scenario-based content, evaluate AI-generated legal outputs, and provide expert feedback on complex U.S. compliance issues. The work requires strong legal judgement, precise written communication, and the ability to identify regulatory ambiguities and potential legal risks. No prior experience in AI is required.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance Law Analysis

• Analyse complex compliance-law issues and regulatory scenarios
• Apply current U.S. legal and regulatory standards
• Identify legally significant facts, obligations, and potential risks
• Evaluate complex compliance questions using sound legal judgement
• Distinguish clear legal requirements from areas requiring further interpretation

Legal Document Review & Annotation

• Review and annotate legal documents and compliance materials
• Identify important regulatory concepts and legal issues
• Assess content for accuracy, completeness, and clarity
• Flag ambiguities, inconsistencies, or potential legal pitfalls
• Produce structured annotations suitable for AI training and evaluation

Regulatory Research

• Conduct research into applicable U.S. compliance laws and regulatory requirements
• Analyse statutes, regulations, guidance, and other relevant legal authorities
• Validate legal assertions against current regulatory frameworks
• Identify developments relevant to project scenarios
• Summarise complex regulatory materials clearly and accurately

Legal Writing & Rationale Development

• Draft detailed explanations and legal rationales
• Develop responses to complex compliance scenarios
• Translate sophisticated legal concepts into clear professional language
• Produce concise and defensible legal analyses
• Maintain strong standards of structure, logic, and written precision

AI Legal Output Evaluation

• Review AI-generated legal content for accuracy and logical consistency
• Evaluate adherence to applicable U.S. compliance standards
• Identify unsupported conclusions, missed risks, or analytical weaknesses
• Provide actionable feedback designed to improve model performance
• Apply consistent legal-quality standards across repeated evaluations

Scenario Development

• Develop realistic compliance-law questions and answer frameworks
• Create scenarios reflecting current compliance challenges
• Design problems that test legal reasoning and regulatory interpretation
• Ensure scenarios contain sufficient factual and legal complexity
• Contribute high-quality examples for legal AI training and assessment

Collaboration & Quality Improvement

• Collaborate remotely with project leads and technical specialists
• Clarify nuanced legal and regulatory questions
• Support calibration across reviewers and evaluation workflows
• Recommend improvements to project processes and legal-review standards
• Contribute feedback supporting continuous refinement of AI-training protocols

Ideal Profile

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited U.S. law school
• Active attorney licence in good standing
• 3–15 years of recent, substantive experience practising compliance law in the United States
• Currently practising in the field of compliance law
• U.S.-based
• Strong knowledge of U.S. compliance and regulatory frameworks
• Demonstrated experience with legal-document analysis
• Strong legal research and regulatory-research skills
• Exceptional written and verbal communication ability
• Strong critical-thinking and analytical skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to explain complex compliance issues clearly and concisely
• Comfortable collaborating remotely with legal and technical teams
• Judicial clerkship experience is preferred
• Experience teaching law or legal writing at an accredited law school is advantageous
• Legal-journal editorial experience is highly valued
• No prior AI-training or model-evaluation experience is required

Engagement Details

• Independent contractor engagement
• Fully remote
• Compensation: $90–$150/hour
• Applicants must be U.S.-based and currently practising compliance law
• Work will involve compliance-law analysis, regulatory research, legal-document review, scenario development, legal writing, annotation, and AI-output evaluation
• Strong knowledge of U.S. compliance standards and regulatory interpretation is central to this engagement
• Assignments may involve legal documents, regulatory materials, compliance scenarios, model outputs, and structured evaluation tasks
• Collaboration will occur remotely with project leads and technical specialists
• Project scope, workload, regulatory topics, and evaluation standards may evolve depending on project requirements
• Work must be completed without using confidential or privileged information belonging to any employer, client, law firm, institution, or other third party
