Remote Drayage / Intermodal Dispatcher – Morning Shift

About the role

We are looking for an experienced drayage dispatcher to run our morning port operation remotely. You will manage a fleet of about 40 local operators moving refrigerated containers between the ports, rail ramps, and our facilities. You need to understand how port operations work and keep containers moving on schedule.

This role works 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM Eastern Time

What you'll do

• Dispatch and manage about 40 local drayage operators moving reefer containers
• Coordinate container pickups and returns with port terminals and rail ramps, including terminal appointments and container availability
• Track container status, holds, and free time to avoid demurrage and per diem charges
• Monitor reefer containers to protect temperature-sensitive product
• Handle driver calls and resolve issues during the shift, such as terminal delays, chassis problems, and equipment issues
• Communicate with vendors, steamship lines, and terminals by phone and email
• Keep accurate dispatch records and hand off cleanly to the evening dispatcher

Qualifications

• Fluent in English and Spanish, spoken and written (required)
• 2+ years of experience dispatching drayage or intermodal operations (required)
• Working knowledge of port terminal operations: appointments, container availability, holds, chassis, and free time
• Experience with refrigerated (reefer) containers
• Comfortable managing a large fleet and a high volume of calls
• Reliable high-speed internet, a quiet workspace, and a working phone/headset

Preferred

• Experience with the Port of New York and New Jersey and the tri-state area (NY/NJ/CT)
• Experience in produce or perishable food logistics
• Experience with dispatch, routing, or TMS software
