Remote Founding AI/ML Engineer

We are seeking a Founding AI/ML Engineer to develop and deploy production-grade AI systems transforming the construction industry. This role focuses on multimodal intelligence, document understanding, and workflow automation, working directly with leadership to enhance automation where AI agents handle core tasks with minimal human oversight.

Key responsibilities include:

• Designing and shipping AI systems used daily by customers
• Developing multimodal pipelines for drawings, specs, and documents
• Automating preconstruction workflows such as document intake, extraction, takeoff support, bid prep, and QA
• Building retrieval, evaluation, and orchestration systems
• Optimizing model performance, latency, reliability, and cost
• Prototyping customer-facing AI features and owning end-to-end system development
• Shaping engineering culture and technical direction

Qualifications:

• 6+ years of engineering experience, ideally in high-growth startups
• Proven experience shipping AI systems to customers
• Hands-on expertise with LLMs, computer vision, retrieval systems, and agentic workflows
• Strong backend skills including APIs, async jobs, databases, cloud deployment, and monitoring

Preferred skills:

• Construction or AEC industry exposure
• Multimodal AI, document intelligence, OCR, segmentation
• Experience in converting workflows into AI products
• Inference optimization and evaluation systems
