We are sharing a specialised consulting opportunity for experienced Mechanical Engineering professionals with strong expertise in engineering mechanics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, structural analysis, vibrations, manufacturing, simulation, and R&D to contribute to an advanced AI training and mechanical-engineering evaluation project.

Selected professionals will solve and review advanced mechanical-engineering problems, assess AI-generated technical responses, analyse real-world design and R&D scenarios, and provide rigorous written feedback grounded in professional engineering practice. The work requires strong analytical judgement, hands-on technical experience, and the ability to explain complex mechanical systems clearly. No prior experience in AI is required.

Key Responsibilities

Mechanical Engineering Problem Solving

  • Solve advanced mechanical-engineering problems spanning design, analysis, and R&D
  • Apply first-principles reasoning to realistic engineering scenarios
  • Evaluate assumptions, constraints, and boundary conditions
  • Compare alternative solution approaches
  • Develop technically sound and defensible engineering conclusions

Engineering Mechanics & Structural Analysis

  • Analyse statics and dynamics problems
  • Evaluate loads, stresses, deformation, and structural behaviour
  • Apply hand calculations and analytical methods where appropriate
  • Review structural assumptions and modelling choices
  • Identify inconsistencies in mechanical-system analyses

Thermodynamics & Heat Transfer

  • Analyse thermodynamic systems and energy balances
  • Evaluate heat-transfer mechanisms and thermal performance
  • Apply conduction, convection, and related principles to engineering problems
  • Review thermal assumptions and boundary conditions
  • Assess whether proposed solutions are physically and mathematically consistent

Fluid Mechanics

  • Analyse fluid-flow problems using appropriate engineering principles
  • Evaluate pressure, velocity, losses, and flow behaviour
  • Assess modelling assumptions and solution methods
  • Identify unrealistic or inconsistent fluid-mechanics conclusions
  • Connect theoretical analysis with practical engineering applications

Finite Element Analysis & Simulation

  • Review and solve problems using finite element methods
  • Evaluate model setup, mesh strategy, loads, constraints, and material assumptions
  • Assess structural and thermal simulation results
  • Compare simulation outputs against analytical calculations or expected behaviour
  • Identify modelling errors or questionable numerical conclusions

Vibration & Dynamic Systems

  • Analyse vibration and dynamic-response problems
  • Evaluate natural frequencies, excitation, damping, and resonance behaviour
  • Review structural-dynamics assumptions
  • Identify potential failure or reliability concerns related to vibration
  • Provide practical interpretations of analytical and numerical results

Manufacturing & Design-for-Reliability

  • Apply manufacturing considerations to engineering analyses
  • Evaluate mechanical designs for practical production constraints
  • Incorporate reliability considerations into technical assessments
  • Review design decisions against relevant engineering standards
  • Identify improvements that increase robustness and manufacturability

AI Engineering Evaluation

  • Review AI-generated mechanical-engineering responses
  • Assess technical correctness, completeness, and engineering quality
  • Identify incorrect assumptions, calculation errors, or weak reasoning
  • Provide structured feedback to improve model performance
  • Distinguish substantive engineering issues from acceptable alternative approaches

Technical Communication & Collaboration

  • Document engineering reasoning clearly and precisely
  • Provide detailed written and verbal technical explanations
  • Collaborate remotely with other subject-matter experts and project participants
  • Support consistency across technical evaluation criteria
  • Contribute practical engineering context to AI-training workflows

Ideal Profile

  • MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, or BS in Mechanical Engineering with 8+ years of relevant industry experience
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical design, analysis, or R&D
  • Strong expertise in statics and dynamics
  • Strong knowledge of thermodynamics
  • Experience with fluid mechanics and heat transfer
  • Demonstrated proficiency with FEA and structural analysis
  • Strong understanding of vibration and dynamic-system analysis
  • Ability to analyse complex systems using finite element methods, hand calculations, and experimental validation
  • Familiarity with manufacturing and product-development environments
  • Knowledge of ASME BPVC, related ASME codes, and design-for-reliability practices is advantageous
  • Experience with ANSYS, Abaqus, Nastran, or comparable simulation tools is valuable
  • Familiarity with CAD platforms is beneficial
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills
  • Professional English proficiency
  • Exceptional written and verbal technical communication skills
  • Evidence of rigorous engineering problem-authoring or technical-review experience is highly valued, including standards-committee work, examination item writing, textbook authorship, engineering competition leadership, technical awards, research recognition, or comparable achievements
  • No prior AI-training or model-evaluation experience is required

Engagement Details

  • Independent contractor engagement
  • Fully remote
  • Displayed compensation range: $60–$100/hour
  • Actual compensation structure is output-based, with payment made per task that meets project specifications
  • Task completion time may vary depending on individual experience and workflow
  • Minimum weekly submission requirements apply; the source does not specify the exact number of required tasks
  • Work will involve engineering mechanics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, FEA, vibrations, manufacturing, technical analysis, and AI-generated engineering-content evaluation
  • Strong hands-on mechanical-engineering judgement is central to this engagement
  • Roles are typically filled within approximately 48 hours
  • Selected experts are expected to begin initial tasks within approximately 24–48 hours after onboarding
  • Project scope, workload, engineering topics, and evaluation standards may evolve depending on project requirements
  • Work must be completed without using confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, manufacturer, research institution, engineering organisation, or other third party
