24-MAGWe are sharing a specialised consulting opportunity for Physics Experts at the postdoctoral, research-fellow, junior-faculty, or senior-research-scientist level with strong expertise in theoretical or computational physics, technical review, error detection, scientific verification, and rigorous written communication.
Selected professionals will critically evaluate advanced physics solutions, derivations, and theoretical arguments; identify substantive scientific errors; independently verify technical claims; and provide precise, constructive feedback suitable for research-level work. The engagement is focused primarily on professionals based in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. No prior experience in AI is required.
Key Responsibilities
Physics Solution Review
- Critically evaluate advanced physics solutions and derivations
- Review theoretical arguments for correctness and internal consistency
- Assess whether conclusions follow from stated assumptions
- Identify incomplete or weak reasoning
- Apply research-level judgement across specialised physics problems
Error Detection & Scientific Critique
- Identify mathematical and physical errors
- Detect unjustified steps or missing assumptions
- Flag dimensional inconsistencies
- Identify weaknesses in methodology or logical structure
- Distinguish substantive scientific problems from stylistic or cosmetic issues
Technical Reasoning & Feedback
- Explain clearly why an identified step or conclusion is flawed
- Provide technically precise and actionable feedback
- Suggest corrections or stronger analytical approaches
- Improve reasoning without unnecessarily rewriting valid work
- Maintain scientific rigor while keeping feedback constructive and concise
Verification & Cross-Checking
- Independently reproduce or validate key calculations
- Use alternative methods to test scientific claims where useful
- Evaluate limiting cases, assumptions, and parameter regimes
- Confirm whether derivations remain valid under stated conditions
- Identify discrepancies between analytical and computational results
Computational & Symbolic Validation
- Use LaTeX to communicate technical reasoning
- Apply SymPy for symbolic manipulation where appropriate
- Use Python for numerical or analytical verification
- Work within Jupyter environments for reproducible analysis
- Use computational tools to support or challenge technical conclusions
Scientific Judgement & Calibration
- Apply calibrated judgement to ambiguous or technically difficult cases
- Recognise when multiple approaches may be scientifically valid
- Distinguish genuine uncertainty from incorrect reasoning
- Identify cases where additional assumptions or evidence are required
- Avoid overstatement when the available evidence does not support a definitive conclusion
Structured Research Feedback
- Deliver organised written reviews of submitted work
- Explain both strengths and weaknesses of technical reasoning
- Provide recommendations that improve clarity and rigor
- Support iterative refinement of scientific outputs
- Maintain consistency across repeated evaluation tasks
Ideal Profile
- PhD in Physics
- Active or recent independent research record within a specialised physics subfield
- Experience as a postdoctoral researcher, research fellow, junior or assistant professor, senior research scientist, or comparable role
