Remote | Purchasing Agent — $30–$65/hour
24-MAGWe are sharing a specialised consulting opportunity for experienced Purchasing Agents with strong expertise in procurement, bid analysis, supplier evaluation, sourcing strategy, contract reasoning, and vendor comparison to contribute to an advanced AI training and procurement-evaluation project.
Selected professionals will design expert-level procurement tasks that reflect real-world sourcing complexity, create and analyse realistic vendor documentation, define defensible purchasing recommendations, and develop detailed grading frameworks for AI evaluation. The work is particularly suited to procurement professionals with hands-on experience across corporate or public-sector environments, especially within IT, industrial, or professional-services categories. No prior experience in AI is required.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement Task Design
- Design realistic procurement scenarios reflecting professional sourcing workflows
- Develop expert-level tasks involving RFPs, supplier selection, bid evaluation, and negotiations
- Incorporate realistic commercial and operational constraints
- Ensure tasks require substantive procurement judgement
- Create objectively assessable scenarios suitable for AI evaluation
RFP & Sourcing Workflows
- Develop realistic RFP scenarios
- Define supplier requirements and evaluation criteria
- Structure sourcing exercises across multiple competing vendors
- Assess whether procurement requirements are complete and commercially meaningful
- Create realistic decision points throughout sourcing processes
Bid Analysis
- Analyse supplier bids across pricing, scope, technical requirements, and commercial terms
- Develop detailed bid-comparison matrices
- Identify inconsistencies across non-standardised submissions
- Normalise supplier information where required for meaningful comparison
- Produce clear and defensible bid-analysis conclusions
Supplier Evaluation
- Evaluate suppliers using structured scoring methodologies
- Assess commercial, technical, operational, and contractual considerations
- Develop weighted evaluation criteria where appropriate
- Identify trade-offs between competing supplier proposals
- Produce well-reasoned supplier recommendations
Procurement Artifact Development
- Create realistic supplier quotations and pricing tables
- Develop specification sheets and technical procurement documentation
- Work with information presented in inconsistent formats
- Build supporting materials that reflect real procurement environments
- Ensure documentation provides sufficient evidence for objective analysis
Contract Reasoning
- Analyse procurement-related contractual provisions
- Evaluate commercial obligations and risk allocation
- Identify clauses requiring clarification or negotiation
- Assess how contractual terms affect supplier selection
- Explain contract-related recommendations clearly
Negotiation Scenarios
- Develop realistic supplier negotiation tasks
- Identify commercial priorities and negotiation levers
- Evaluate alternative supplier positions
- Define defensible negotiation strategies
- Incorporate pricing, terms, service levels, and risk considerations
Sourcing Recommendations
- Develop evidence-based sourcing recommendations
- Compare suppliers across relevant quantitative and qualitative criteria
- Explain trade-offs and decision rationale
- Identify material risks or uncertainties
- Produce recommendations consistent with professional procurement practice
Grading Rubric Development
- Develop comprehensive evaluation rubrics for procurement tasks
- Define criteria for vendor comparison, bid analysis, and contract reasoning
- Distinguish strong, partial, and inadequate responses
- Create objectively measurable grading standards
- Support consistent AI-agent performance evaluation
Category-Specific Procurement
- Develop scenarios involving IT procurement
- Support industrial sourcing and supplier-analysis tasks
- Create professional-services procurement scenarios
- Incorporate category-specific commercial and operational considerations
- Apply appropriate procurement terminology and evaluation practices
Quality Assurance & Review
- Review created tasks and supporting materials for realism and completeness
- Identify ambiguity, missing information, or weak evaluation criteria
- Verify supplier comparisons and expected conclusions
- Refine tasks based on project feedback
- Maintain consistently high standards across procurement deliverables
Ideal Profile
- Minimum 4 years of professional experience in corporate or public-sector procurement
- Direct experience with supplier analysis
- Strong experience building and evaluating bid matrices
- Demonstrated contract-negotiation experience
- Ability to analyse non-standardised vendor submissions
- Strong supplier-evaluation and sourcing skills
- Experience developing detailed comparison matrices
- Deep category knowledge in IT, industrial, or professional-services procurement is highly valuable
- Strong understanding of procurement best practices
- Familiarity with relevant procurement regulatory frameworks
- Experience applying supplier-evaluation methodologies
- Strong commercial and analytical judgement
- Exceptional written English
- Ability to produce clear technical procurement documentation
- Strong ability to explain contractual and sourcing rationale
- Experience creating or assessing complex procurement scenarios or benchmarks is advantageous
