Remote Senior React Native Developer

Job description

We're looking for a Senior React Native Developer, for our North American client, to lead how they build cross-platform mobile apps that real users depend on every day — shaping the architecture, raising the quality bar, and shipping features that hold up on both iOS and Android. You'll join a small, fast-moving team and own the mobile codebase end-to-end, from clean, reusable components to App Store and Play Store releases.

What You'll Do

• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of cross-platform mobile applications using React Native.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to define and implement new features and app enhancements.
• Build clean, reusable, and well-structured components with a focus on scalability and maintainability.
• Integrate mobile apps with RESTful APIs, authentication systems, and third-party services.
• Ensure mobile applications are optimized for performance, responsiveness, and stability across both iOS and Android platforms.
• Conduct code reviews, provide technical mentorship, and enforce best practices across the mobile codebase.
• Manage the app release process for both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, including build configurations and CI/CD setup.
• Identify and address technical debt while improving the existing mobile architecture.
• Collaborate with QA to design automated and manual test strategies ensuring high reliability and minimal regressions.
• Stay up-to-date with mobile development trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.

What You'll Bring

• 7+ years of professional software development experience, with 4+ years focused on React Native.
• Proven track record of developing and deploying production-grade React Native apps for both iOS and Android.
• Strong understanding of JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript, and the React ecosystem.
• Hands-on experience integrating mobile apps with RESTful APIs, authentication flows, and third-party SDKs.
• Deep knowledge of mobile app performance optimization, debugging, and profiling.
• Familiarity with App Store / Play Store deployment processes and app lifecycle management.
• Experience implementing secure storage, offline data handling, and push notifications.
• Comfortable working with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and agile workflows (Scrum or Kanban).
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a small, fast-moving team environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to writing clean, maintainable, and testable code.

Nice to Have

• Experience with native iOS (Swift) or Android (Kotlin/Java) development.
• Familiarity with React Navigation, Redux, or MobX.
• Background in eCommerce or B2B applications.
• Understanding of UI/UX best practices for mobile and ability to collaborate with design teams.
• Experience integrating payment gateways or analytics SDKs.
• Exposure to backend technologies (e.g., Ruby on Rails, Node.js) or full-stack development.
• Prior experience working in startups or small engineering teams, where ownership and versatility are key.
