Remote | Subject Matter Expert – Medicine & Biostatistics Chart Analysis — $25–$50/hour
24-MAGWe are sharing a specialised consulting opportunity for experienced professionals in Medicine, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Public Health, clinical research, and related quantitative health disciplines to contribute to an advanced AI training and evaluation project focused on complex medical and biostatistical chart interpretation.
Selected professionals will analyse clinical and epidemiological visualisations, design rigorous multi-step reasoning tasks, produce objectively verifiable answers, and explain statistical or clinical reasoning with precision. The work is particularly suited to candidates experienced with survival analysis, clinical-trial data, epidemiological reporting, and advanced medical statistics. No prior experience in AI is required.

- Apply appropriate clinical and biostatistical terminology throughout analysis
Survival Analysis
- Interpret Kaplan-Meier curves and related survival visualisations
- Evaluate survival probabilities across groups or time periods
- Analyse censoring, curve separation, and time-to-event patterns
- Interpret hazard ratios and related measures where applicable
- Distinguish observed chart information from unsupported clinical conclusions
Forest Plot & Effect-Size Analysis
- Interpret effect estimates and confidence intervals
- Compare results across studies, groups, or endpoints
- Evaluate statistical significance and uncertainty
- Identify heterogeneity or inconsistent patterns where visually represented
- Apply correct terminology when discussing effect sizes and interval estimates
ROC & Diagnostic Performance Analysis
- Interpret ROC curves and related diagnostic-performance charts
- Analyse sensitivity, specificity, and discriminatory performance
- Compare multiple models or tests where appropriate
- Evaluate thresholds and trade-offs
- Explain findings clearly without overstating clinical implications
Multi-Step Quantitative Reasoning
- Design and solve tasks requiring several analytical steps
- Perform calculations based on chart-derived information
- Compare clinical or statistical metrics across groups
- Apply statistical reasoning and interpolation where required
- Produce clear and reproducible conclusions
Question & Task Design
- Develop clear, objective, and unambiguous analytical questions
- Create tasks requiring substantive interpretation rather than simple data extraction
- Design questions involving comparison, calculation, trend analysis, and inference
- Ensure all required information is available from the source visualisation
- Avoid subjective wording or unsupported assumptions
Statistical Interpretation
- Interpret confidence intervals, p-values, scales, and statistical annotations correctly
- Evaluate trends and comparative effects
- Distinguish statistical evidence from clinical interpretation
- Apply appropriate statistical language
- Maintain precision when describing uncertainty
Clinical Reasoning
- Apply relevant clinical context where the visualisation supports it
- Interpret chart findings within appropriate medical or epidemiological frameworks
- Identify when conclusions require additional context beyond the displayed data
- Avoid unsupported causal or clinical claims
- Explain clinical relevance carefully and precisely
Step-by-Step Solution Development
- Produce precise final answers
- Document calculations and analytical steps clearly
- Explain statistical or clinical reasoning in logical sequence
- Reference chart features directly where relevant
- Ensure solutions can be independently reviewed and verified
AI Benchmark & Evaluation Support
- Develop high-quality analytical tasks for AI training and evaluation
- Create benchmark questions reflecting realistic clinical and research reasoning
- Evaluate whether AI-generated answers demonstrate correct interpretation
- Identify statistical, clinical, or terminology errors
- Contribute expert-reviewed content to model-evaluation workflows
Quality Assurance
- Review tasks for ambiguity and hidden assumptions
- Verify calculations and expected answers
- Confirm terminology, units, and statistical notation are correct
- Ensure conclusions are objectively supported by the visualisation
- Maintain strong quality standards across analytical deliverables
Remote Collaboration
- Collaborate asynchronously with project coordinators and reviewers
- Incorporate feedback into task revisions
- Communicate complex reasoning clearly in written and verbal formats
- Support consistent evaluation standards across contributors
- Work independently while meeting project quality expectations
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor's, Master's, MD, MPH, PhD, or equivalent qualification in Medicine, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Public Health, or a closely related clinical or quantitative field
- At least 2 years of professional, academic, or research experience interpreting clinical-trial data, survival analyses, epidemiological data, or comparable medical visualisations
- Strong familiarity with Kaplan-Meier curves
- Experience interpreting forest plots
- Familiarity with ROC curves and diagnostic-performance metrics
- Understanding of hazard ratios and survival-analysis concepts
- Advanced ability to interpret axes, legends, units, scales, confidence intervals, p-values, and statistical annotations
- Strong multi-step quantitative reasoning skills
- Ability to design clear and objectively answerable analytical questions
- Strong written and spoken English
- Ability to communicate clinical and statistical reasoning precisely
- Experience with technical documentation, scientific publishing, assessment development, or structured analytical task creation is advantageous
- Background producing benchmark questions, technical reports, or data-annotation tasks for medical, clinical research, or AI projects is valuable
- Bilingual proficiency in English and another relevant language is advantageous but not required
- Strong attention to detail and analytical rigour
- No prior AI-training or model-evaluation experience is required
