Position Overview We are seeking a junior Research Analyst – AI Server Hardware & Components to track AI server hardware configurations and component content, providing the ground-truth layer beneath our accelerator, supply chain, and datacenter research. Every generation of AI servers changes what is inside the box, including accelerators, CPUs, memory, storage, NICs and DPUs, power delivery, cooling systems, PCBs, substrates, cables, and connectors. This role will be responsible for understanding exactly what ships in each AI server and rack platform, in what quantities, from which suppliers, and how component content changes from one generation to the next. The research produced in this role will feed directly into SemiAnalysis’ AI server and component supply chain research used by some of the world’s largest investors and semiconductor companies. This is a remote role, with Taiwan strongly preferred due to its position at the centre of the ODM and component ecosystem and the opportunity for regular in-person engagement with industry contacts. Strong candidates in other locations will also be considered. Responsibilities Track AI server platform configurations across generations and vendors, including NVIDIA NVL-class rack systems, AMD platforms, Google TPU, AWS Trainium, and other custom ASIC systems, down to board-level content. Build and maintain detailed bill-of-materials and component-content datasets covering accelerator and CPU counts, memory, storage, networking, NICs, DPUs, switches, optics, connectors, cables, power delivery, cooling systems, PCBs, and substrates. Track changes in server and rack architecture across platform generations and identify how these changes affect component requirements and supplier opportunities. Monitor the ODM and OEM ecosystem, including Foxconn, Quanta, Wistron, Inventec, Supermicro, and other major server manufacturers. Track platform allocations, shipment trends, production developments, and rack integration activity across ODMs and OEMs. Monitor component supplier positioning and market-share shifts across the AI server bill of materials, identifying potential winners and losers as platforms transition. Conduct supply chain checks and develop relationships with ODMs, component suppliers, distributors, and other industry participants, particularly across Taiwan’s server ecosystem. Monitor Taiwanese industry news, monthly revenue disclosures, company earnings calls, and major trade shows including Computex, OCP, and vendor events. Surface actionable findings and changes in the AI server supply chain quickly to the wider research team. Maintain clean, structured, and consistently updated datasets that can be used across SemiAnalysis research products. Contribute to research notes, reports, and newsletter publications alongside senior analysts. Support institutional client questions relating to AI server configurations, component content, platform transitions, and supplier exposure. Requirements 0–3 years of experience in industry analysis, equity research, supply chain analysis, hardware engineering, semiconductor research, or a related field. Strong recent graduates with demonstrated interest in AI infrastructure and hardware are encouraged to apply. Familiarity with AI server hardware and a working understanding of the major components inside a modern GPU server or AI rack. Genuine curiosity and willingness to develop deep knowledge of server architecture, component content, suppliers, and platform roadmaps. Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain structured datasets with a high degree of accuracy and consistency. Strong analytical skills and the ability to piece together conclusions from fragmented public information, industry checks, and supply chain sources. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Full professional proficiency in written and spoken English, as SemiAnalysis research and publications are produced in English. Experience following Taiwanese monthly revenue disclosures, earnings reports, and supply chain news flow. Familiarity with Python for data analysis, automation, or dataset management is a plus.
