About Citrini Research
Citrini Research publishes independent, thematic investment research for a sophisticated audience of investors. We focus on identifying emerging trends, structural shifts, and under-appreciated opportunities across global markets, and we aim to explain them in a clear, differentiated, and actionable way. We’re a small, high-output team where analysts have real ownership and their work reaches readers directly.
Position Overview
We’re looking for a Research Analyst to help generate, develop, and publish original investment ideas. You’ll work across sectors and themes, from first-pass idea generation to deep-dive reports, supporting the full research process. This is a generalist role with room to specialize as you find your edge. Fresh graduates are welcomed to apply!
Responsibilities
Develop and pressure-test investment theses across equities and thematic baskets, spanning sectors and geographies
Conduct deep-dive research on companies, industries, and supply chains, including competitive positioning, unit economics, and catalysts
Build and maintain financial models, comps, and valuation frameworks
Monitor markets, earnings, filings, and news to surface timely ideas and update existing views
Source and synthesize information from primary sources (filings, transcripts, industry data, expert conversations) and alternative data
Draft written research for publication, including reports, updates, and shorter-form commentary, in a clear and engaging style
Create charts, tables, and supporting visuals that make complex ideas easy to grasp
Track the performance of published ideas and contribute to post-mortems on what worked and what didn’t
Support subscriber-facing work as needed, such as Q&A, webinars, and presentations
Qualifications
Experience in equity research, investment banking, hedge fund/asset management, consulting, or a comparable analytical role
Strong financial modeling and valuation skills
Excellent written communication, with the ability to turn dense analysis into compelling prose
Demonstrated interest in markets, ideally evidenced by a track record, portfolio, writing, or independent research
Intellectual curiosity and comfort moving quickly across unfamiliar industries
Self-directed, detail-oriented, and comfortable owning projects end to end
Fresh grads are welcomed to apply
Preferred Skills
Experience with thematic, macro, or long/short investing
Familiarity with technology, semiconductors, energy, industrials, or other secular-growth areas
Proficiency with data tools (Excel, Python/SQL, Bloomberg, FactSet, or similar)
Existing public writing, such as a Substack, blog, or social following, on markets or investing
Growth Areas
Develop deep expertise in a sector or theme of your choosing and become a recognized voice in it
Build your byline and reputation with a broad, engaged investor audience
Progress from supporting research to leading your own thesis development and flagship reports
Sharpen your process through performance tracking, post-mortems, and close work with senior team members
Expand into subscriber engagement, product development, and mentoring junior analysts as the team grows
