Position Overview
Citrini Research is an independent investment research firm focused on thematic investing, identifying the structural trends reshaping industries and translating them into actionable ideas for investors. Our readers are investors and allocators who want differentiated, forward-looking analysis rather than the consensus view.
We are looking for a healthcare analyst to deepen our coverage of the sector. You will own original research across a segment of healthcare, such as biopharma, medtech, diagnostics, tools and life sciences, or services and payers. You will build the models, datasets, and thematic frameworks behind our published work, and turn complex scientific and financial information into clear, investable conclusions.
This is a high-autonomy role for someone who is curious, rigorous, and comfortable forming and defending a differentiated view.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct primary and secondary research on healthcare themes, companies, technologies, and supply chains

  • Identify emerging healthcare themes early and translate them into investable ideas and baskets

  • Build and maintain financial models, valuation work, market-sizing analyses, and industry databases

  • Analyze clinical data, regulatory filings (FDA, EMA), earnings reports, patents, and pipeline disclosures to identify catalysts and risks

  • Write long-form thematic reports and shorter data-driven notes for subscribers

  • Source and speak with industry experts, operators, and clinicians to pressure-test your thesis

  • Monitor positioning, sentiment, and market narratives to find where consensus is mispriced

  • Collaborate with other analysts where healthcare intersects with other themes, such as AI, technology, and macro

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of experience in equity research, investing, consulting, biotech or pharma strategy, or a related analytical role

  • Strong financial modeling and valuation skills

  • Ability to read and interpret scientific literature, clinical trial data, and regulatory documents

  • Excellent written communication, with the ability to explain complex topics concisely and persuasively

  • Intellectual curiosity and a bias toward first-principles thinking

  • Self-directed, with a track record of producing high-quality work independently

Preferred Skills

  • Advanced degree (MD, PhD, PharmD, MS, MBA) or CFA in a relevant field

  • Domain depth in a specific healthcare vertical

  • Experience with thematic, long/short, or event-driven investing

  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, or other data analysis tools

  • Existing published work, such as a blog, newsletter, or research reports

  • Familiarity with healthcare reimbursement, pricing, and policy dynamics

Growth Areas

  • Shape Citrini's healthcare coverage with real ownership over scope, methodology, and direction

  • Develop expertise in fast-moving areas such as AI in drug discovery and diagnostics, GLP-1s and obesity therapeutics, cell and gene therapy, and medical devices

  • Work alongside analysts covering AI, technology, and macro on topics where healthcare intersects with other major trends

  • Build your reputation through published research read by investors and allocators

  • Sharpen your ability to turn research into differentiated, high-conviction ideas

  • Grow your relationships with operators, clinicians, and industry experts
