We deliver high-impact projects that shape public policy and drive societal change. From education to health, crime to energy, our projects make a real difference.

With offices in 15 countries, our consultants and researchers advise government departments, regulators, charities, and other public sector organisations to make informed decisions and improve people’s lives. Operating globally, Verian has offices across Europe, Asia Pacific, and the United States

In the UK, we’re a team of more than 150 specialists, bringing together expertise across research, evidence, evaluation and communications.

We are Verian. Powering decisions that shape the world.

About the Team

You’ll join our Population Studies team, a group of 40 dedicated researchers working on influential, large-scale studies that support national statistics and public policy.

We work with major government departments including the Office for National Statistics (ONS), Department for Energy, Security and Net Zero (DSENZ) , Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), Department for Transport (DfT), Transport for London (TfL), Home Office (HO), and Department for Education (DfE), as well as leading academic institutions such as the University of Essex and the Centre for Longitudinal Studies at UCL.

Our work contributes to vital national data, including the Crime Survey for England and Wales and Understanding Society, the largest longitudinal household panel study in the world.

It’s a team where the work is varied, the projects are high-profile and the opportunity to learn and develop your career in research is huge.

About the Role

We’re looking for a talented and motivated Research Executive with an interest and flair for quantitative research and data to join our Population Studies team.

We are keen to hear from someone who wants to work on research projects that have a real impact on government policy and society; who has quantitative research skills and enjoys working with research data; who is excited about becoming a research expert and delivering work to the highest standards; who thrives on variety and challenge; and who wants to work as part of a great team.

No two projects will be the same. You’ll have the opportunity to build your quantitative research skills across different stages of the project lifecycle, while working alongside experienced researchers and contributing to studies that genuinely matter.

What You’ll Do

You’ll contribute to the delivery of high-profile quantitative research projects, developing your skills and taking on increasing responsibility as your career develops.

This could include:

  • Contributing to research and questionnaire design.
  • Supporting project set-up and delivery, focusing on the data flow process.
  • Managing your own tasks, priorities and deadlines across multiple projects.
  • Checking and quality-assuring research data.
  • Carrying out quantitative analysis using SPSS, R or Python.
  • Helping to develop reports, presentations and other research data outputs.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues and clients to deliver high-quality research.
  • Developing your understanding of research methods, data processing and analysis, project management and the wider research process.

What You’ll Bring

There’s no one ‘right person’ for this role. But you’re likely to thrive at Verian if you:

  • Have experience of, or a strong interest in, quantitative research.
  • Have good data skills and some experience of coding in SPSS, R or Python with a strong interest in developing these further.
  • Have a curious mind and enjoy thinking analytically.
  • Are interested in working with government and public bodies to help deliver positive outcomes for society.
  • Are ambitious, motivated and proactive to become excellent at what you do.
  • Enjoy learning, being challenged and developing new skills.
  • Care about quality and take pride in getting things right.
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Are organised and able to manage competing priorities.
  • Are adaptable, positive and comfortable with variety.
  • Are a team player who enjoys working collaboratively - and having a bit of fun along the way.

Why Verian?

At Verian, you’ll have the opportunity to build a rewarding career doing work with purpose. We’ll give you the support, experience and opportunities to develop your strengths, explore where you want your career to take you and take on more responsibility as you grow.

You’ll be part of a friendly, collaborative organisation where people are encouraged to learn, contribute ideas and make an impact, with flexible and hybrid working (minimum 3 days in our Westminster office) to help you do your best work.

Ready to make an impact? Join Verian and help build high-performing teams!
