This position has a term length of one year plus one day, with the possibility of renewal. Location - This position offers a flexible work arrangement, allowing for a combination of remote and in-office work (in Edmonton) based on work preferences. Preference for schedule will be discussed during the recruitment process. Reporting to the Senior Lead, Monitoring Science and Innovation, the Restoration Field Coordinator coordinates the planning, implementation, and day-to-day delivery of restoration monitoring programs. The position is responsible for supervising restoration field staff, coordinating field logistics, supporting implementation of monitoring protocols, maintaining data quality standards, and ensuring field activities are completed safely, efficiently, and consistently. The position works closely with scientists, technical staff, government partners, contractors, and land managers to support restoration monitoring and habitat recovery initiatives across Alberta. Restoration Program Coordination Coordinates annual restoration monitoring activities, including work planning, scheduling, logistics, and resource allocation. Coordinates field implementation of quality assurance (QA/QC), survival assessment, and establishment survey programs. Organizes equipment, vehicles, accommodations, permits, and field supplies required to support restoration monitoring. Monitors project progress and adjusts schedules and priorities to meet operational requirements. Supports annual planning and reporting for restoration monitoring projects. Field Operations and Supervision Supervises ecological field technologists and seasonal field technicians engaged in restoration monitoring activities. Recruits, trains, mentors, schedules, and evaluates field staff. Provides field instruction on monitoring protocols, safe work procedures, equipment operation, and data collection standards. Ensures compliance with University policies, health and safety requirements, and ABMI field procedures. Participates in field monitoring activities where operationally required. Technical Quality and Data Management Implements standardized monitoring protocols and quality assurance procedures. Reviews field data for completeness, accuracy, and consistency prior to submission. Assists with development and refinement of field procedures, operational documentation, and training materials. Supports implementation of new monitoring methods, technologies, and field equipment. Identifies operational improvements to enhance efficiency, safety, and data quality. Collaboration and Stakeholder Support Works collaboratively with scientists, government agencies, Indigenous communities, contractors, and landowners to support restoration monitoring activities. Assists with preparation of technical summaries, annual reports, and project documentation. Supports communication and coordination between restoration partners and internal ABMI staff. Bachelor's degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Forestry, Natural Resource Management, or a related discipline. Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience coordinating ecological field programs or environmental monitoring projects. Equivalencies in education and experience will be considered. Experience supervising technical and seasonal field staff. Demonstrated knowledge of ecological monitoring methods, field logistics, and quality assurance procedures. Experience working safely in remote field environments. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
