Revenue Accountant

We are seeking a Revenue Accountant based in Bangalore to join our dynamic Revenue Accounting team. In this role, you will support accurate and timely revenue recognition and financial reporting by executing revenue close activities, reviewing customer contracts, and maintaining high-quality revenue accounting data. You’ll collaborate closely with Finance, IT, Deal Desk, Sales, Legal, and other cross-functional teams to resolve issues, strengthen controls, and improve scalable processes in a fast-growing environment. If you are passionate about revenue accounting, technology, and collaborative problem-solving, this is your opportunity to make a lasting impact.

Be a Contributor — What You’ll Do

  • Execute month-end and quarter-end revenue close activities, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, rollforwards, flux analyses, and supporting schedules.
  • Perform revenue sub-ledger activities, including contract combinations, holds review, FOB and acceptance releases, and periodic SSP updates.
  • Review customer contracts and non-standard deal terms in partnership with Deal Desk, Sales, and Legal to determine appropriate revenue recognition under ASC 606 and company policy.
  • Investigate revenue, billing, sub-ledger, and general ledger variances; coordinate with Billing, Accounts Receivable, Finance, and other stakeholders to resolve discrepancies timely.
  • Execute assigned revenue-related SOX controls, maintain audit-ready evidence, and escalate control exceptions or process gaps promptly.
  • Prepare revenue analyses, reconciliations, and reporting that support forecasting, variance commentary, clearance, and quarter-end reporting.
  • Support external and internal audits by preparing revenue PBCs, schedules, reconciliations, and documentation, and by responding to auditor questions.
  • Contribute to process improvement and automation initiatives, including requirements gathering, data validation, user acceptance testing, and documentation for revenue systems and workflows.

Be Prepared — What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification, or progress toward certification, preferred.
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in revenue accounting, technical accounting, and/or audit; software or SaaS industry experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP, including ASC 606 and ASC 340-40; IFRS 15 experience accepted.
  • Experience with subscription/SaaS and multi-element revenue arrangements, including variable consideration and term-based or usage-based contracts.
  • Ability to review customer contracts, identify revenue accounting considerations, and document clear, well-supported conclusions with guidance as needed.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to reconcile data across revenue sub-ledger, ERP, CRM, billing, and reporting systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain revenue accounting matters clearly to finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated initiative in identifying process improvements and supporting automation, system enhancements, and data-quality improvements.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-directed, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet recurring close and reporting deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including pivots, lookups, and working with large datasets; experience with Tableau or similar reporting tools preferred.
  • Experience with revenue recognition systems and enterprise tools (e.g., RevPro, Oracle Fusion, Salesforce, Tableau).
