What You'll Do:

As a Revenue Accountant supporting the Revenue and Orders team, you will be responsible for processing orders, including new, renewals, and cancellations/changes to existing orders. The role includes an emphasis on reviewing underlying contract documents for appropriateness, as well as various terms and conditions that could impact revenue recognition. The role includes an emphasis on identifying nonstandard terms within orders or MSAs that could impact revenue recognition, and assessing the correct treatment based upon such terms. The Revenue Accountant assesses the appropriateness of quotes and opportunities already prepopulated by the Sales team, looking for accurate revenue recognition methods, dates, billing frequencies, product selections, terms, and any additional key fields that could drive revenue recognition complexities. This role includes a system-to-system review for data to ensure completeness and accuracy of contract/order integration from Salesforce to WorkDay, reviewing key fields in WorkDay for appropriateness based upon upstream system data.

In addition to the above, the Revenue Accountant assists with preparing various month-end close activities, including but not limited to: monthly revenue reporting, researching/understanding period over period fluctuations at a Customer level, revenue accruals, required manual journal entries (MJEs), balance sheet reconciliations (recons) and related roll forwards (RFs), and various other monthly reporting/checks to ensure complete and accurate revenue reporting. This role operates on a US-based close calendar; extended availability may be required during month-end and quarter-end periods.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strong understanding of the order entry process for all Bonterra revenue streams and products – including new, renewals, and changes/cancellations
  • Perform accurate and timely order entry activities – including review of underlying deal documentation (order forms, quotes, opportunities, etc.)
  • Review contracts created in WorkDay post integration from Salesforce for completeness and accuracy of data inputs
  • Timely and efficient processing of any changes/cancellations, including coordination with billing team as needed
  • Support, track, and process cancellation requests, including any submitted via ticketing system (received from Customers)
  • Coordinate with US-based departments and internal/external stakeholders on various requests, including but not limited to FP&A, Legal, Controller's Group, and External Auditors — requires English-language communication and availability during US business hours
  • Assist with monthly close activities such as period over period revenue fluctuation analyses, balance sheet recons and related RFs, revenue accruals, required MJEs, etc.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to ensure timely order processing and completion of monthly close related activities
  • Assist in sharing, updating and creating knowledge resources
  • Support a positive team culture based on Bonterra company values
  • Willingness to accept feedback to improve skills and pursue further development
  • Keep records of good judgment and decision-making in positions with significant responsibility

Who You Are:

You are an experienced accountant who loves being hands-on and digging into the details. You get excited about problem-solving and improving processes and procedures. You love numbers and understand the complexities of various types of billing and pricing arrangements. You enjoy being part of a team that works together to support the continued success of the company as a whole. You thrive in a remote environment and communicate confidently in English with US-based colleagues, auditors, and cross-functional partners.

Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP required; Mexican CPA (Contador Público) candidates with U.S. GAAP experience strongly preferred
  • Licenciatura en Contaduría or equivalent accounting degree required
  • 1–2 years of accounting experience, with knowledge of order processing and revenue reporting/analysis; experience with Salesforce and Workday Financials a plus (training available for strong candidates)
