Revenue Cycle Specialist - Part Time

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Communicates effectively in both oral and written form, as appropriate for the needs of the audience
• Advises supervisor of any suspected system deficiencies
• Maintains and exhibits a current knowledge of profession and completes required continuing education
• Satisfactorily processes patient demographic insurance information to process a claim, post payments to patient’s accounts, and or solve any rejected denied claim issues. Including processing and filing claim appeals
• Evaluates documentation for appropriateness of billing type and service(s) provided.
• Assign ICD-10CM/PCS, CPT codes adhering to official coding guidelines including CMS and payer specific guidance
• Analyze claim documentation for medical necessity, signatures, and other payer requirements.
• Review and verify any deficient documentation information with appropriate contact or ancillary department and initiate appropriate actions as needed
• Meets established productivity benchmarks
• Other Duties as assigned

POTENTIAL DUTIES

• Participates in Billing Projects
• Training
• Interface with accounting team regularly for month-end and periodic reconciliation
• Work collaboratively with other EMS providers and agencies

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate’s degree, CPC, or a minimum of 4 years relevant experience, with at least 1 year working with medical services revenue cycle.
• Certified ambulance coder required within six months of hire

NOTES

• Successful completion of a pre-employment background check and pre-employment medical exam are required.
• This will initially be a remote only position. In the future as space allows, it will be hybrid. LifeFlight retains the right to alter the position to be fully in person, partially in person, or fully remote at its discretion with reasonable notice.
