Position Overview
The RFP and Grant Writer will play a pivotal role in securing public and private funding to advance LearningSpring’s mission. This position serves as the primary author and strategist for responses to requests for proposals (RFPs), grant applications, state contracts, and major bids. You will build and refine internal libraries, templates, and knowledge-sharing processes to enable scalable, rapid, and high-quality responses as LearningSpring grows.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the full lifecycle of RFP and grant responses, from research and writing to editing and submission, for federal, state, and school district contracts and funding opportunities.
Build, manage, and continuously improve the infrastructure for scalable and repeatable proposal submission, including content libraries, templates, and workflows, to increase the volume and quality of responses.
Analyze RFPs and grant solicitations to determine submission requirements, scope, evaluation criteria, and project fit.
Coordinate with executive, sales, product, and data teams to gather information, align project goals, and synthesize supporting documentation.
Write clear, persuasive, and highly detailed proposals aligned with the goals of school districts, state education agencies, and edtech innovation.
Rigorously review every submission for accuracy, compliance, formatting, and completeness, responding to every requirement, no matter how small.
Ensure compliance with all sponsor requirements, including deadlines, document formats, and contract obligations.
Develop project budgets, timelines, and evaluation plans for government and foundation proposals.
Maintain calendars and tracking systems for grant, contract, and bid opportunities, managing submission schedules.
Track and report all prospecting, proposal, and award outcomes for compliance and audit purposes.
Support the development of case studies, ROI analyses, and supplemental materials as required by funding agencies.
Monitor trends and regulatory changes in K-12 education, edtech funding, and state contracting to inform strategy.
Provide training and guidance to team members on proposal standards and detailed best practices.
Key Deliverables
Successfully register LearningSpring and maintain active profiles with all relevant local, state, and national procurement systems and portals (e.g., SAM.gov, state eProcurement systems, district vendor lists) to ensure the company is always eligible to compete for public sector contracts.
Secure at least one awarded RFP or government contract within the first year of employment, demonstrating clear impact and validation of proposal strategies and infrastructure.
Develop and maintain an internal proposal resource library including templates, responses, and supporting documentation, ensuring future RFPs and grant submissions are accurate, efficient, and consistent with current best practices.
Produce at least two prospecting reports per quarter identifying new grant and contract opportunities, summarizing eligibility requirements, timelines, and strategic fit for LearningSpring’s mission and portfolio.
Required Qualifications
3+ years of proven success in RFP and grant writing for K-12 education, edtech, or the public sector.
Demonstrated experience creating and managing scalable internal writing processes (template libraries, proposal repositories, tracking tools).
Deep understanding of school district/state procurement and education contract compliance.
Impeccable attention to detail, with proven ability to ensure proposals are error-free, compliant, and fully responsive to all requirements, small and large.
Superior narrative, technical, and storytelling skills; advanced command of grammar, structure, and formatting in professional documents.
Effective multitasker and project manager, able to juggle competing deadlines for multiple complex submissions.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior work in edtech, K-12, or public sector as grant writer, contract specialist, or program manager.
Experience managing large, multi-year grants or government-funded projects.
Familiarity with state and federal education funding programs and reporting requirements.
Experience with digital platforms and CRM/grant management tools.
