Role Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Risk Consultant to own the development, validation, and governance of transaction monitoring models within a Financial Crime Prevention / AML function for a major Nordic banking client. • Location: Stockholm (SE), Helsinki (FI), or Copenhagen (DK)
  • Working Model: Hybrid (3 days from the office / 50% remote)
  • Assignment Period: November 2, 2026 – October 31, 2027
  • Allocation: 100% (40 hours per week)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Governance & Implementation: Drive model governance activities within the TMU, including validation assessments and the implementation of second-line feedback.
  • Analytical Strategy: Set and execute the direction for model development and experimental design, striking the right balance between analytical rigor and practical operational constraints.
  • Documentation & Review: Document model design, assumptions, limitations, and weaknesses, iterating closely with the analytics team to ensure complete accuracy and completeness.
  • Prototyping & Testing: Provide hands-on support for prototyping tests and advanced analytical methodologies.
  • Mentorship & Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Mentor, uplift, and collaborate within the analytics team to design, test, and implement model SOPs (e.g., data lineage/governance, tuning and calibration, monitoring of model operations and outcomes).
  • Stakeholder Management: Represent the organization with a high degree of professionalism in collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Extensive experience in model risk management, model governance, and validation.
  • Strong background in data science, statistics, and quantitative methods.
  • Proven experience in academic or technical writing, particularly in the context of complex model documentation.
  • Advanced degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Computer Science, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or equivalent).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Assertive communication style with the ability to set direction and achieve results in a dynamic, changing environment.

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have):

  • Experience in Financial Crime / AML (e.g., transaction monitoring and technology suppliers).
  • Familiarity with transaction monitoring platforms such as Quantexa.
  • Prior experience acting as a model validator or quantitative risk analyst.
