Job Summary:
The Clinical Documentation Specialist SR is a highly trained Clinical Documentation Nurse who provides comprehensive advanced Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) by applying expert knowledge. Provides expertise and represents the department on special projects working extensively with physician advisors, department leaders and coding department. Facilitates modifications to clinical documentation to ensure appropriate reimbursement is received for the level of service rendered. Ensures the accuracy and completeness of clinical information used for measuring and reporting clinical and quality outcomes.
EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:
A minimum of 5 years of acute care nursing experience is required. A minimum of 2 or more years CDI experience in a hospital setting is required.
EDUCATION DESCRIPTION:
Bachelor Degree in Nursing or Foreign trained medical graduate is required.
SPECIAL SKILLS DESCRIPTION:
Efficient use of MS Office products (Excel, Outlook, Word), WebEx and Epic (or similar EMR). Excellent communication, negotiation, troubleshooting, and presentation skills. Ability to read and correlate an extensive variety of medical / surgical medical treatments and monitoring to clinical conditions. Advanced knowledge of reporting, statistical principles, and processes. Ability to interact with all levels of organization including executive leadership. Ability to develop strategies and present to senior leadership. Expert knowledge related to MSDRG and APRDRG payer trends and rules. Expert knowledge related DRG and CMI impacts. Expert knowledge of coding guidelines and coding clinics. Ability to document and maintain process documentation. Excellent follow-through from initiation to conclusion. Excellent communicator, project management principals familiarity.
LICENSURE DESCRIPTION:
Requires current state of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or a Multi-state Nursing License from a participating state in the NLC (Nurse Licensure Compact). Advanced certification related to CDI (CCS, CPC, CCDS, CDIP) is required.

Pay is expected to be between: (expressed as hourly) $38.92 - $60.33. Final compensation is based on experience and will be discussed with you by the recruiter during the interview process.
