What We're Looking For:

Michael Baker is seeking a Project Manager - Highway for our Columbus, OH office. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced roadway professional who has successfully managed projects or is ready to take the next step into a project management role. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success leading roadway design tasks on a variety of transportation projects and be comfortable mentoring, guiding, and delegating work to junior staff.

In this role, the Project Manager will provide engineering design, technical oversight, and project delivery support for transportation and public works projects throughout Ohio, with opportunities to assist on projects in other states. The successful candidate must be proficient in OpenRoads Designer and have experience utilizing the software to deliver roadway design projects.

The candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of roadway engineering principles and serve as a mentor to less experienced team members. Michael Baker provides Project Management training and opportunities to build relationships with key clients and industry partners. As the candidate grows within the role, they will become increasingly involved in proposal development, project pursuits, and client engagement.

What You'll Do:

  • Leading the design and plan production for conventional design-bid-build and/or design-build highway and multimodal transportation projects

  • Reviewing the work of technical staff, including performing QA/QC of plans and specifications.

  • Mentoring, training, and developing junior engineers and designers.

  • Applying a broad understanding of roadway design, including roadway geometrics, drainage, hydrology and hydraulics, traffic-related considerations, and highway planning.

  • Utilizing OpenRoads Designer for roadway modeling, design development, and plan production.

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Ohio required.
  • 10+ years of roadway design experience, with an emphasis on ODOT and/or City of Columbus projects preferred.
  • Demonstrated success delivering transportation infrastructure projects and programs.
  • Proficiency in OpenRoads Designer and MicroStation required.
  • Working knowledge of ODOT standards, procedures, and project delivery requirements.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and managing project tasks, schedules, and budgets.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to effectively prepare and present technical documentation.

Compensation:

The approximate compensation range for this position is $125,000 to $195,000 per year. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
