The mission of 120ft Factory is to start the new western industrial revolution. We are building the essential infrastructure to close the "Physical AI Deployment Gap." Closing that gap requires a robotics team that iterates against reality in short loops. This role combines a generalist robotics engineering position across the full stack with the Sprint Lead function that keeps the team's cadence sharp and its progress visible.

Description

As a Robotics Engineer you work as a generalist across the humanoid platform, alongside the other founding engineers: robot control and teleoperation, the VLA training stack, mechanical design and end-effectors, and system architecture and behaviour trees. You contribute across all of these — hardware bring-up, data collection, prototyping, integration — and bring the rapid-iteration ethos that turns open questions into physical experiments within days.

As Sprint Lead you additionally run the robotics team's sprint cycle. This is a delivery function, not an architectural one: engineering and technology decisions are led by the domain specialists, and the Sprint Lead's mandate is to shorten the distance between those decisions and working hardware.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to physical bring-up, calibration, and maintenance of the humanoid fleet.

• Contribute to the teleoperation and policy-rollout data-collection pipeline feeding our training backends (GR00T, OpenPI) across Isaac Sim and MuJoCo.

• Contribute to real-to-sim asset work, and integration tasks within the defined system architecture.

• Drive rapid prototyping of rigs, fixtures, test stands, and quick-turn parts that get specialist work onto real hardware sooner.

• Surface trade-offs discovered on the floor back to the domain owners with data from real hardware.

The Sprint Lead function

• Runs the two-week sprint cycle for the robotics team: sprint planning, daily unblocking, and sprint review.

• Hosts the biweekly all-hands demo: every sprint closes with a demonstration on physical hardware for the whole company, showing what the robots can do that they could not two weeks earlier.

• Owns sprint scope commitments, task sequencing within the sprint, and the demo agenda.

• Keeps the balance tilted towards doing: breaks work into small batches, removes blockers daily, and keeps the cadence one the team can hold over the long run.

• Shapes engineering decisions from the floor: brings prototype results, KPIs in hardware data, and delivery perspective into every discussion on architecture, technology, and standards — the ground truth that keeps those decisions honest.

• Keeps decisions where the expertise is deepest: domain owners make the final calls in their fields, which frees the Sprint Lead to go full speed on what no one else owns — tempo, integration, and the demo.

Requirements

• BSc or MSc in Mechatronics, Robotics, or equivalent demonstrated through shipped hardware.

• Hands-on experience taking robot hardware from prototype to deployed units.

• Breadth across mechanical design, rapid prototyping, DFMA, electronics, and embedded firmware.

• Strong Python; working familiarity with ROS 2 and modern simulators (Isaac Sim, MuJoCo) — enough to plug into every specialist's workflow.

• Experience setting and holding a build cadence: shipping against deadlines and rallying a team around demos.

• Practical battle scars from deployed robots: vendor failures, field returns, and the unglamorous work of making hardware reliable.

• You bring the intensity of a ship-fast culture and the judgement to keep it sustainable for the people around you.

Compensation

We offer a top-tier Stockholm salary combined with an early-stage equity grant (QESO) as part of the founding engineering team, a 5% pension contribution on top of salary, and the standard health care allowance. Relocation support and EU Blue Card sponsorship provided.
