Description

Muse Group’s products are used by millions of musicians, from Ultimate Guitar and MuseScore to Hal Leonard. Behind every score sold there’s a composer, an author or a publisher who expects to be paid fairly and on time. Our Global Royalty team makes that happen, and we’re looking for a Royalty Manager to be the main point of contact for our US partners. This is a communication role first. You’ll be the person partners talk to when they have a question about a statement, a deal or a change in how we work, and you’ll make sure every one of those conversations stays clear, constructive and professional.

We are actively integrating AI and automation into all areas of the business and expect candidates with mindset focused on improving efficiency and deliver a better user experience.

Key responsibilities

  • Be the go-to contact for US partners: composers, authors and publishers, including major labels and publishers.
  • Run the US royalty statement cycle: data preparation, calculation checks, review and release of statements on schedule.
  • Set up and maintain royalty contracts, payees, rates and splits in the royalty system.
  • Reconcile royalty accruals and payments with Finance; prepare payment files and month/quarter-end reports.
  • Handle inquiries from authors, composers, publishers and agents; resolve statement discrepancies.
  • Support royalty audits (internal and licensor/author audits) — collect data, explain calculations.
  • Work with Licensing, Legal, Finance and Content teams on new and amended agreements.
  • Document processes and take part in automation/AI initiatives of the Global Royalty team.

Requirements

Solid experience in business communication with external partners or clients

  • 3+ years in royalty administration / accounting, ideally in music publishing, print music or book publishing.
  • Strong Excel (pivot tables, lookups); experience with large data sets and analytical mindset
  • High accuracy and attention to detail; able to own a deadline-driven cycle.
  • Comfortable working in a distributed team across time zones (US / Europe).
  • Fluent English

Nice to have

  • Experience working with royalties or licensing process
  • Understanding of royalty contract terms: rates, advances, recoupment, reserves, splits, sub-publishing.
  • SQL or ERP/royalty systems is a plus
