Role Title: Rwanda Health Lead About Kasha Kasha will disrupt the way that people in emerging markets get the health products they need by turning global health supply chains upside down. We are on our way to becoming Africa’s leading platform for last-mile access to health products and services used by enterprises, consumers, resellers, and health facilities. Kasha focuses on the lower-income mass market population, selling health and household goods and delivering those products to the last mile through our Kasha Agents and logistics networks. Customers can order using an omnichannel mobile platform that is built to be highly accessible around the country, reaching even typically offline customers via our digital channels. Kasha also works with manufacturers and global health organizations, operating as a service channel for visibility on distribution, performance data, consumer insights, and last-mile access. Kasha was founded in July 2016 in Rwanda, is headquartered in Nairobi Kenya, and operates in East, South, Central, and soon West Africa. You can learn more about us at Kasha Global Inc. Job Purpose: To oversee all aspects of pharmaceutical services within the organization, ensuring compliance with Rwanda FDA rules and regulations. Manage end-to-end pharmaceutical operations to ensure safe, effective, and efficient medication management practices, positioning Kasha as the exclusive distributor for a wide range of pharmaceuticals, health commodities/accessories, health reagents, health services, and health equipment. This role reports directly to the COO. N.B. All applications must be received by 5:00 PM CAT on June 21st, 2024. Role Responsibilities: Assessing data from a variety of sources to gain insights into pricing strategies and market trends. Serve as Kasha's chief pharmacist, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and accreditation standards governing pharmacy practice. Conduct comprehensive annual reviews of all pharmacy licenses and certifications, ensuring timely renewals and adherence to regulatory requirements. Oversee both external and internal audits of Kasha’s health operations to ensure compliance with industry standards and improve operational efficiency. Develop and implement strategic plans for pharmaceutical acquisition and distribution, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements. Build and maintain a robust network of pharmacists, wholesalers, distributors, and manufacturers to secure a prequalified list of manufacturers for various products. Oversee the day-to-day operations of pharmaceutical functions, including procurement, inventory management, dispensing, and distribution, to ensure seamless and efficient service delivery. Ensure that quality management systems are in place for good storage and distribution practices and establish comprehensive standard operating procedures. Propose, evaluate, and implement advanced technology solutions such as automated dispensing systems, electronic health records, and medication management software to enhance pharmacy operations. Establish and maintain rigorous quality assurance processes to monitor and evaluate medication safety, accuracy, and effectiveness. Conduct quarterly self-audits to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures, organizational systems, good distribution practices, and documentation standards. Engage proactively with manufacturers to register products, follow up on visa requests, and ensure successful registration in PRIMS. Participate in forecasting activities at the importers' association and gather pharmaceutical data to inform strategic decision-making and planning. Recruit, train, and mentor pharmacy staff to maintain a skilled and competent workforce. Provide ongoing education and professional development opportunities to pharmacy staff. Conduct daily reviews of pharmaceutical sales, identify any operational blockers, and follow up or escalate issues for quick resolution. Role Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy with more than three years of experience in the field or master’s degree from an accredited institution. A valid pharmacy license in good standing with the relevant regulatory authority in Rwanda, ensuring compliance with national standards and regulations. At least 3-5 years of comprehensive experience in various areas of pharmaceutical services, including quality control and assurance, dispensing, warehousing, and distribution. Ability to demonstrate strong analytical skills and expertise in medication therapy management. Exhibit an exceptional level of attention to detail to ensure accuracy and safety of pharmaceutical practices. Fluency in both English and Kinyarwanda for effective communication with diverse stakeholders, including regulatory authorities, healthcare professionals, and patients.
