Prestigious Consulting is recruiting a delivery-oriented SaaS Product Manager for its client, a digital platform connecting African researchers, innovators, and businesses with mentorship, funding, and commercialisation opportunities.

Product development is already in progress, with some features completed and a development and design team in place. The successful candidate will take ownership of the existing product, review outstanding requirements, set delivery priorities, and lead the team towards completing and launching the Minimum Viable Product (MVP).

This position is ideal for someone with hands-on experience managing software development, coordinating cross-functional teams, and taking digital products from development through testing and launch.

Product Assessment and Planning

• Review existing product documentation, roadmaps, completed features, and pending development tasks.
• Evaluate the product's current state, identify gaps, dependencies, and possible delivery risks.
• Develop a prioritised roadmap for completing and launching the MVP.

Product Development and Delivery

• Coordinate developers, designers, and other stakeholders to achieve agreed project milestones.
• Convert business needs into product specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Manage product backlogs, sprint planning, reviews, and delivery progress.
• Address blockers and dependencies while keeping the team focused on essential launch features.

MVP Testing and Launch

• Coordinate functional testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
• Track product defects, validate fixes, and ensure features meet agreed requirements.
• Evaluate product readiness against launch requirements.
• Work with the technical team to coordinate deployment, release planning, and post-launch improvements.

Stakeholder Management and Reporting

• Provide regular updates on progress, pending tasks, timelines, and potential risks.
• Maintain product documentation, roadmaps, sprint reports, and decision records.
• Communicate product decisions and escalate issues requiring management attention.

User Experience and Product Improvement

• Work with designers to ensure features address user needs and deliver a consistent experience.
• Gather user feedback and incorporate relevant insights into product decisions.
• Recommend improvements based on usability, business priorities, and product performance.

Business Alignment and Fundraising Support

• Ensure product development priorities support the platform's business objectives and target users.
• Prepare product roadmaps, progress updates, and relevant information for stakeholder presentations and fundraising activities.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• At least 7 years of relevant Product Management experience, with a strong record of delivering digital products.
• Proven experience working with developers and designers on SaaS solutions or other digital products.
• Experience managing an MVP or major product release from development through testing and deployment.
• Practical knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies, backlog prioritisation, sprint management, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Experience coordinating product testing, tracking defects, and assessing release readiness.
• Proficiency in product management tools such as Jira, Linear, Trello, Asana, or similar platforms.
• Strong analytical, organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and drive delivery in a remote work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience taking over a product previously managed by another Product Manager or development team.
• Background working in a startup or fast-paced technology environment.
• Familiarity with UI/UX design, software development processes, and product analytics.
• Experience with platforms focused on research, innovation, funding, mentorship, or commercialisation.
