Safety Compliance Specialist

Role Description The Owner of RECIEL will provide strategic leadership and overall stewardship of the journal’s vision, reputation, and long-term direction. This part-time, remote role includes overseeing editorial policies, contributing to the setting of thematic priorities, and supporting the editorial team in maintaining high academic and ethical standards. The Owner will engage with publishers, academic partners, and professional networks to strengthen RECIEL’s reach and impact, while helping to shape marketing and outreach initiatives. Day-to-day activities may involve reviewing high-level performance metrics, guiding business development opportunities, managing key relationships, and ensuring that operational processes support the journal’s mission. The role also includes periodic decision-making on resource allocation and investments that sustain the journal’s quality and growth.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated expertise in international, European, or comparative environmental law and policy, with a strong understanding of current scholarly and practitioner needs.
• Experience in academic publishing, journal management, or editorial leadership, including familiarity with peer-review processes and publication ethics.
• Strategic planning and business oversight skills, such as setting long-term goals, managing budgets, and evaluating growth opportunities.
• Strong relationship-building and communication abilities to collaborate effectively with editors, authors, reviewers, publishers, and institutional partners.
• Comfort working in a remote, part-time capacity, with strong organizational and time-management skills and the ability to make informed, timely decisions.
• Advanced degree in law, environmental policy, or a related discipline is highly beneficial; prior leadership experience in an academic or professional organization is an advantage.
