Commercial Director

B2B Technology | High-Growth Business | Senior Leadership

About the Business

We’re an ambitious, technology-driven business transforming the way parking services are delivered through smarter, more automated solutions. By combining innovative technology with a customer-first approach, we’re helping to simplify everyday journeys and support the development of more connected, efficient urban environments.

With strong financial backing, an established market presence and a proven track record of rapid growth, the business is entering an exciting phase of expansion. We’re now looking for an experienced commercial leader who can help turn that momentum into a scalable, predictable and high-performing sales operation.

The Opportunity

This is a senior, hands-on commercial leadership role, reporting directly to the CEO and forming part of the senior leadership team.

You’ll take responsibility for the overall commercial function, bringing together new business development, account management, tender activity and sales operations under one coordinated strategy. Your focus will be on delivering revenue, improving sales performance and creating the structure, processes and leadership capability needed to support the next stage of growth.

The business has historically benefited from close CEO involvement in commercial strategy and major sales opportunities. That relationship will continue, but the priority is to establish a commercial operation that can consistently deliver results without relying on individual intervention or informal processes.

Your first year will be about execution, building credibility and getting the fundamentals right. You’ll establish clear ownership, improve pipeline visibility, strengthen forecasting, develop the management team and introduce a consistent approach to performance measurement and accountability.

This is not a role where you simply inherit a mature sales structure. You’ll have the opportunity to build and refine the commercial function as the business expands, working closely with the CEO to translate strategic priorities into practical action.

As you deliver results and develop a deeper understanding of the market, there will be scope to take on greater responsibility for company-wide commercial strategy, with the potential for the position to evolve into a Chief Commercial Officer role.

What you’ll be responsible for

  • Revenue and performance: Take ownership of commercial targets, revenue delivery, pipeline quality and forecast accuracy. Identify risks early and implement clear corrective actions when performance falls behind plan.
  • Building the commercial function: Bring sales, account management, tendering and sales operations together into one cohesive team, with clear responsibilities, effective management and shared objectives.
  • Go-to-market execution: Turn business priorities into a clear commercial plan covering target markets, customer segments, territories, channels, account allocation and sales resource.
  • Sales processes and forecasting: Introduce a consistent operating rhythm, including regular pipeline reviews, forecasting meetings, qualification standards, conversion tracking and effective CRM management.
  • Commercial decision-making: Work closely with the CEO and finance leadership on pricing, negotiation, contract terms, discounting and deal profitability. Ensure revenue growth translates into sustainable commercial returns.
  • Leadership and development: Recruit, coach and develop commercial managers, establish clear performance expectations and build a culture of accountability. Develop leaders who can manage their own teams effectively rather than relying on constant senior intervention.
  • Strategic customer relationships: Maintain direct involvement in major opportunities, important accounts and complex tenders. Support negotiations where senior input can make a difference and use customer feedback to strengthen the proposition.
  • Insight and continuous improvement: Provide the leadership team with a clear view of market demand, customer behaviour, sales performance and future opportunities. Over time, use this insight to influence product development, market expansion, investment decisions and longer-term commercial direction.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for a commercially driven leader who has successfully managed multiple teams and can demonstrate the ability to build a sales operation capable of supporting sustained business growth.

You’ll ideally bring:

  • Senior B2B sales leadership experience, including responsibility for multiple teams, sales managers or team leaders rather than solely managing individual contributors.
  • A track record of scaling a commercial function, introducing structure, improving processes and developing management capability during a period of significant growth. Experience within a private-equity or venture-capital-backed business would be particularly relevant.
  • Strong commercial accountability, with a clear understanding of revenue performance, target achievement, pipeline coverage, conversion rates, forecasting accuracy and sales-cycle management.
  • Excellent CRM and sales operations expertise. You understand how to use systems such as HubSpot to drive better decisions, improve visibility and create reliable forecasts, rather than treating CRM as an administrative exercise.
  • The ability to turn strategy into action, including market segmentation, territory planning, account ownership, channel development, resource allocation and sales capacity planning.
  • Proven people leadership skills. You can coach and challenge experienced managers, improve standards, address underperformance and build a team that takes responsibility for its results.
  • Commercial and financial acumen, with the confidence to challenge pricing, assess deal profitability, negotiate effectively and prioritise quality of revenue over growth at any cost.
  • A hands-on approach. You’re comfortable getting involved in important customer meetings, reviewing proposals, challenging pipeline assumptions and establishing new processes before delegating responsibility.
  • Sound judgement and influencing skills. You can work constructively with a CEO who remains closely involved in the commercial operation, deliver against an established strategy and challenge existing thinking when the evidence supports a different approach.
  • A practical approach to technology and innovation. You understand how data, automation and AI can improve prospecting, account research, sales productivity, forecasting and coaching, and can demonstrate where you’ve used these tools to deliver tangible improvements.

Experience in technology-led services, property-related markets, facilities management, public-sector procurement, tender-led sales or mobility solutions would be advantageous. However, the priority is a demonstrable record of commercial leadership, revenue delivery and building effective teams.

What’s on offer?

  • £100,000 - £120,000 basic salary, with an on-target earning potential of £150,000 - £200,000 including performance-related bonus.
  • Equity participation, providing an opportunity to share in the business’s future success.
  • Hybrid working, with three days in the office and two days working remotely.
  • A senior position within the leadership team, reporting directly to the CEO.
  • The opportunity to shape and develop a growing commercial organisation, with genuine responsibility for its structure, people, processes and performance.
  • A role that offers both immediate accountability and longer-term career progression, with the potential to move towards a Chief Commercial Officer position as the business grows.
  • A modern, recently refurbished office in a well-connected business location, close to major transport links.
  • Complimentary breakfast and lunch provided in the office.

This is an opportunity for an ambitious commercial leader who enjoys building teams, improving performance and turning business growth into a repeatable, sustainable commercial operation.
