Sales Tax Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented Sales Tax Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will manage daily, monthly, and quarterly sales tax-related tasks and assist with ad hoc projects. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys a mix of routine and varied responsibilities.

• Review sales tax requests and adjustments from customers and prepare the necessary adjusting journal entries.
• Upload sales tax exemption certificates efficiently.
• Prepare reconciliations between ERP and Avalara for seven entities across 206 states.
• Review and approve managed returns filed through Avalara.
• Prepare and file approximately five manual sales tax returns each month.
• Assist with sales tax audit requests as needed.
• Help prepare Secretary of State and Department of Revenue registrations for new state registrations when applicable.
• Research sales tax exemption rules on Department of Revenue websites.

• Proficiency in sales tax management and general ledger reconciliation.
• Experience with journal entries and month-end processes.
• Familiarity with sales and use tax procedures.
• 1-2+ years of experience in an operational accounting role with a focus on sales tax.

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Proficiency in Excel, particularly pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions.
• Experience with Avalara, Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics AX, and MAS ERP systems.

This is a Contract position based out of Minneapolis, MN.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $50.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
