Company Description Transfennica, established in 1976 and owned by Dutch shipowner Spliethoff, is a liner-shipping carrier operating a specialized, multi-purpose, highly ice-strengthened Ro-Ro fleet across the European market. The company provides fast transport routes between continental Europe, Estonia, and Finland, backed by advanced information technology and efficient cargo handling. Its versatile vessels can carry a wide range of cargo, including Sto-Ro, containers, trailers, cassettes, mobile cargo, IMDG-classified goods, and temperature-controlled units. Transfennica emphasizes flexibility, safety, and reliable lead times, making it a trusted partner for diverse logistics needs. The company has offices in key European ports, including Amsterdam, Antwerp, Gdynia, Kotka, Hanko, Helsinki, Lübeck, Paldiski, and Tilbury.

Role Description This is a full-time hybrid role based in Antwerp, with the possibility to work from home part of the time. The Salesperson will focus on developing and maintaining roro and breakbulk business, identifying new commercial opportunities, and managing existing customer relationships in the Belgian and wider European markets. Daily activities include prospecting and visiting clients, preparing and following up on quotations, negotiating rates and service terms, and coordinating with operations and customer service to ensure reliable cargo handling and transport. The role involves close collaboration with internal teams to optimize vessel capacity, monitor market trends, and contribute to sales strategies and budgets. Regular communication in Dutch, French, English, and German is required for customer interactions, internal meetings, and documentation.

Qualifications

  • Proven sales experience in shipping, logistics, or related transport services, ideally with roro and breakbulk cargo.
  • Strong customer relationship and account management skills, including negotiation and follow-up.
  • Excellent communication skills in Dutch, French and English both spoken and written, knowledge of conversational German is a plus.
  • Good understanding of maritime transport operations, cargo handling processes, and basic commercial contract terms.
  • Comfort with using CRM systems, standard office software, and digital tools for reporting and analysis.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and collaborate effectively in an international team environment.
  • Willingness to travel to customers and port locations as required for business development.
  • Relevant vocational training or a degree in business, logistics, maritime studies, or a comparable field is an advantage.
