SAP S/4HANA Test Developer

Position Overview

Herdt Consulting is seeking experienced SAP S/4HANA Test Developers to support a large-scale modernization program for the U.S. Navy, delivering mission-critical ERP modernization and optimization services across its supported commands. This program enables financial, supply chain, and procurement operations within a highly regulated DoD environment, requiring seamless alignment between business processes, technology, and data to ensure compliance, performance, and mission readiness.

The SAP S/4HANA Test Developer will design, develop, maintain, and execute test assets supporting the Navy’s SAP S/4HANA implementation across functional, technical, configuration, security, Fiori, integration, negative, regression, exploratory, UAT, and end-to-end testing.

Key Responsibilities

• Translate business requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and process flows into test scenarios, test cases, scripts, procedures, and test data.


• Design, develop, maintain, and execute test assets across SAP functional, technical, configuration, security, Fiori, integration, negative, regression, exploratory, UAT, and end-to-end testing.


• Maintain requirements-to-test traceability in the Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM) and ensure test evidence is complete and auditable.


• Execute tests, document results and defects, participate in defect triage, analyze failed tests, develop corrective actions, and perform retesting and regression testing.


• Validate SAP business processes, interfaces, data conversions, integrated systems, system designs, and configurations against approved requirements and acceptance criteria.


• Collaborate with government stakeholders, system integrators, functional and technical SMEs, interface teams, security personnel, and the Government UAT Lead.


• Support UAT planning and execution, including entrance and exit criteria, test evidence collection, status reporting, and issue resolution.


• Assess test results and defects to support release-readiness and production-readiness decisions.

Required Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience developing and executing test scenarios, test cases, scripts, procedures, and test data for SAP or comparable enterprise ERP implementations.


• Experience testing SAP S/4HANA business processes and integrated solutions across multiple test types, including integration, negative, regression, UAT, and end-to-end testing.


• Experience maintaining test traceability and documenting test execution, evidence, results, and defects in a Requirements Traceability Matrix or comparable test-management framework.


• Ability to analyze failed tests, distinguish root causes, document defects, support defect triage, and execute retesting and regression testing.


• Experience validating interfaces, data conversions, configurations, security, Fiori, and integrated system behavior.


• Ability to work effectively with government stakeholders, system integrators, functional and technical SMEs, security teams, and UAT stakeholders.


• Experience supporting testing within an Agile SAFe or comparable Agile delivery environment.


• Active DoD Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience supporting a DoD SAP/ERP modernization program; U.S. Navy experience is strongly preferred.


• Experience supporting SAP S/4HANA implementation or transformation programs.


• Experience supporting formal UAT planning, execution, entrance/exit criteria, and production-readiness assessments.


• Knowledge of Navy ERP business processes, interfaces, data conversions, or integrated systems.


• Experience testing SAP Fiori, security roles, configurations, and cross-functional end-to-end business processes.
