SAP Security & Authorizations Consultant (Finance Systems)

We are looking for an experienced SAP Security & Authorizations Consultant to join the Financial Systems department of a leading international organisation in the aerospace and technology sector. This position focuses on SAP user access management, authorization security, risk assessment and compliance across a complex international Finance environment.

You will join a Risk and Compliance Systems team responsible for securing financial system access, maintaining SAP authorization structures and ensuring that user permissions comply with established security standards and internal controls. Working within an international environment spanning approximately 70 legal entities, you will play an important role in managing SAP authorizations, supporting access reviews, resolving security issues and contributing to major SAP implementation and transformation projects.

Responsibilities

• Manage SAP user access and authorization processes across Finance systems.

• Implement, configure and maintain SAP authorization profiles, security roles and access permissions.

• Conduct regular assessments of user access rights to identify potential security risks and recommend corrective actions.

• Support the design and maintenance of SAP authorization concepts in accordance with internal standards and security best practices.

• Monitor, investigate and troubleshoot SAP authorization issues, providing technical support to end users.

• Collaborate with business key users, IT specialists and compliance stakeholders to ensure authorization structures meet business and security requirements.

• Support SAP security audits, authorization reviews and internal compliance assessments.

• Identify and document security incidents, access control weaknesses and remediation activities.

• Contribute to the development and maintenance of SAP authorization policies, procedures and user management processes.

• Support the implementation and execution of IT General Controls (ITGC) relating to access management and system security.

• Identify and help mitigate Segregation of Duties (SoD) conflicts and access-related compliance risks.

• Maintain secure user provisioning and periodic access review processes.

• Develop user training materials and deliver guidance on SAP security policies and authorization procedures.

• Participate in SAP implementation, deployment and system improvement projects, taking ownership of assigned work packages.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure appropriate security controls are integrated into Finance system changes.

• Support change request management, testing and implementation activities involving SAP authorizations.

• Maintain accurate documentation of access permissions, authorization changes and compliance-related activities.

• Contribute to continuous improvements in SAP security governance, risk management and operational efficiency.

Requirements

• Degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Management or a related discipline.

• Minimum 2 years of practical experience working with SAP Authorizations.

• Good understanding of SAP landscape architecture, modules and system integration.

• Knowledge of SAP authorization concepts, data flows, single roles and composite roles.

• Understanding of IT security, audit, internal controls, compliance and Segregation of Duties (SoD) principles.

• Experience supporting SAP user access management, authorization maintenance and security-related troubleshooting.

• Previous involvement in system deployment or implementation projects within Finance environments.

• Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA, SAP Fiori and SAP BW/BI.

• Understanding of SAP security controls and authorization-related risk management.

• Ability to collaborate with technical teams and business stakeholders to translate access requirements into appropriate SAP roles and permissions.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

• Ability to maintain accurate technical documentation and support audit activities.

• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.

• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple activities within an international environment.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration skills.

• English proficiency at B2 level or higher, both written and spoken, for daily professional communication.

Nice to have

• SAP certification in security, authorizations or a related area.

• Experience with SAP ECC environments.

• Knowledge of ServiceNow or similar user support and ticketing platforms.

• Familiarity with SAP Change Request Management (ChaRM) or comparable change management tools.

• Experience implementing or improving IT General Controls and access review procedures.

• Experience supporting security and compliance initiatives across multiple legal entities.
