Position Details Location: Remote Schedule: School-day hours (aligned with student schedules) Employment Type: 1099 (Independent Contractor) and W2 options available Availability : 15-30 hrs a week Start Date: August 2026 This is a remote, school-based School Social Worker role , supporting students across K–12 school settings. You’ll work in coordination with school teams and families, supported by clear workflows, structured onboarding, and dedicated internal support. Our mission is to ensure students receive the services they need to succeed—while creating a more sustainable, supported environment for the clinicians who make that possible. ​ Key Responsibilities Deliver school social work services aligned with IEPs Conduct assessments and implement interventions Develop goals and track student progress Complete documentation and progress reports Participate in IEP meetings and team collaboration Communicate with school staff, families, and stakeholders Scheduling Services are delivered during standard school hours (typically 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM) Scheduling is aligned with student availability Structured caseloads and scheduling support ​ Requirements Requirements Active Michigan license for BSW/MSW only (limited not accepted) MDE Certification Full Approval Letter OR MDE Professional School Social Worker Certificate Experience with IEPs and school-based collaboration (1 year minimum experience preferred) Comfortable using technology for virtual service delivery, including online platforms and documentation systems Reliable internet connection and access to appropriate technology for virtual service delivery Benefits Compensation & Pay Structure Rate: $55–$60 per hour Paid for documentation, IEP meetings, assessments, and progress reporting at the same hourly rate Paid for no-shows and late cancellations Completed sessions include an additional 10% to account for session documentation time 15mins extra added to your first session for every new student added to your caseload (hourly roles) for IEP review and scheduling time Flexible employment options, including 1099 or W2, based on your preference Paid training ($20/hour), including HR onboarding, platform training, and school-specific training Why Our Roles Are Different Clear expectations – Defined workflows and documentation standards Real support – Dedicated Service Manager who advocates for YOU with schools and supports you day-to-day, along with structured onboarding and consistent, responsive communication Access to assessment tools and resources – Supporting evaluation and reporting so you’re not sourcing or managing materials on your own Peer support – Access to internal, discipline-specific chat channels for real-time collaboration, questions, and shared resources Fair compensation – You’re paid for sessions, documentation, and no-shows—not just time in session Flexibility – Choose to work as a HelloHero employee or independent contractor, with part-time and full-time options.
