Knowesis is currently seeking exceptional Scientific Reviewer Sourcing Specialists to join our team and provide invaluable support to BRAES by identifying, researching, engaging, and recruiting qualified scientific, clinical, and technical experts for biomedical research peer review. Working within the centralized reviewer engagement capability, Sourcing Specialists build and maintain robust reviewer pipelines across biomedical research disciplines and specialty areas.

Sourcing Specialists support reviewer identification and recruitment; final determination of reviewer suitability, panel fit, selection, and assignment remains with Scientific Review Officers (SROs) and scientific review leadership.

The Job Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Identify and source prospective scientific, clinical, and technical reviewers aligned to current and anticipated peer review requirements.
  • Use state-of-the-art sourcing approaches, including artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted expertise discovery, semantic matching, scientific literature and database searches, structured expertise profiling, and professional-network research.
  • Conduct targeted searches using publications, funded-investigator information, professional societies, research institutions, academic medical centers, conferences, clinical networks, and other appropriate sources.
  • Review professional credentials, research backgrounds, publications, clinical expertise, methodologies, and other available information to identify potentially qualified candidates.
  • Conduct professional outreach to prospective reviewers and communicate review opportunities, participation requirements, timelines, and expectations.
  • Build and maintain pipelines of prospective and returning reviewers across biomedical disciplines and specialty areas.
  • Support proactive pipeline development for anticipated program and mechanism needs rather than waiting until reviewer recruitment begins.
  • Support rapid identification of replacement reviewers when selected reviewers become unavailable or additional expertise is required.
  • Maintain accurate sourcing, outreach, availability, expertise, and recruitment-status information in applicable systems.
  • Monitor recruitment progress and identify difficult-to-source specialties, emerging gaps, and reviewer-supply risks.
  • Expand reviewer pools by identifying qualified new and underutilized experts.
  • Support relationships with scientific and professional societies, academic and research institutions, clinical organizations, and other sources of qualified experts.
  • Coordinate closely with Scientific Review Officers (SROs) and Scientific Review Managers (SRMs) to understand program-, panel-, mechanism-, and application-specific expertise requirements.
  • Provide candidate information to SROs and scientific review leadership to support reviewer evaluation and selection.
  • Support reviewer engagement, retention, and continuous improvement of sourcing methods.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a biomedical, life science, health science, clinical, or related scientific field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Professional experience in scientific recruiting, biomedical research, research administration, scientific peer review, or another relevant field.
  • Sufficient scientific knowledge to understand biomedical research disciplines, interpret scientific credentials and research experience, and identify individuals with potentially relevant expertise.
  • Demonstrated research and sourcing skills using scientific literature, databases, professional networks, and web-based resources.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to conduct professional outreach.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple searches, specialty requirements, and deadlines concurrently.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and web-based databases, recruiting systems, customer relationship management (CRM) platforms, or comparable tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience identifying or recruiting scientists, clinicians, researchers, subject matter experts, or other highly specialized professionals.
  • Experience supporting biomedical research, scientific peer review, grant review, or Federal health research programs.
  • Familiarity with PubMed, National Institutes of Health (NIH) RePORTER, professional society directories, bibliographic databases, or comparable scientific research tools.
  • Experience supporting the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP), Department of Defense (DoD), National Institutes of Health (NIH), or another Federal biomedical research organization.

Benefits:

  • Health (PPO & HDHP) Insurance, Dental, Vision, Short-Term Disability (STD) & Long-Term Disability (LTD), Basic Life Insurance, 401(k) Company Match, & Voluntary Products.
